'Investment Income you did not fully report'?

Hey everyone,

I got a letter in the mail from CRA today stating the above title, but as far as I'm aware I reported everything properly. My investment managers give me all the appropriate information and I submit that yearly without issue.

I'm just curious how 'bad' this is, how much of a headache, etc.

Also, they requested a Schedule 3 and a Schedule 7 form in regards to the 2024 tax year, are these standard forms that would have been prepared that year or are they special ones in regards to this investigation?

I've touched base with my accountant and will talk to my investment people if need be, but I'm just looking for some generalities in the meantime. Thanks!

Grant's treatment of Benjamin Bristow

I'm nearing the end of 'Grant' by Ron Chernow and have been loving it. Grant as a person is near the top of my favourite historical figures at this point, alongside Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt. I'm at the point in the biography that the Whiskey Ring scandal is occurring, or the fallout from it.

I have to say, I'm a bit flabbergasted at Grant's treatment of Benjamin Bristow. I know Ulysses has a blind spot when it comes to believing the worst in those around him, but to see him so blinded in regards to the honest qualities, as opposed to the dishonest, of someone who is doing their best in good faith, it's maddening.

Does Grant ever learn to see the forest for the trees or was this a perpetual failing for the rest of his life?

New to The Americans, have a question

I've known about The Americans for a few years, knew it was acclaimed and one of the best shows of the last decade, but have only started it this weekend. It was actually the final scene of the series, which I came upon through Reddit, that hooked me. I found it surprisingly emotional without knowing much about the series itself and decided to give it a try. However, I have a question.

I'm two episodes in and although the series is set in 1981 it doesn't seem like it aesthetically, mainly in the fashion and hairstyle departments. The cars, appliances, and technology are - but the fashion and hairstyles don't come across that way, at least for the adults.

I'm a big fan of Mad Men and that show was steeped in its time period, am I just remembering 1981 differently?

EDIT: Thank you for all the kind replies, the ones that were kind. No thanks for the downvotes. I like the show very much, being only on the second episode. All the answers were insightful and gracious.

Bridletowne Neighbourhood Centre

Anyone have information on this project? It never seems to move forward and is perpetually being pushed back.

Half inch of water in boiler room

I live in a stacked-townhouse. The boiler room is a closet located on the roof.

I went to replace the filter on the furnace and there's a half inch if water on the floor (or rubber bladder that is on the floor), so that was a nice surprise. I called my furnace company - but we'll see what they say when they come tomorrow.

I'm wondering if it might be condensation from the AC/furnace because it was so hot out, but it was hot last year and this never happened. I do believe that the hose, seen in the picture, should likely be pointing DOWN into the drain, but it has never caused issues previously. It has been VERY hot the last week, however.

I'm curious if anyone has any other theories on what might be causing this?

HBP Repayment confusion

In 2024 I bought a townhouse.

I did so by taking $35,000 out of my RRSP.

I have to start paying it back in 2029.

However, I would like to pay it back in full now.

I have already contributed $3850 this year, which is my deduction limit.

Am I not allowed to place the $35,000 back in, then at tax time indicate it's a HBP repayment?

My research is partially telling me that I need deduction room to place it back in.
