2+months since RMA was made, Seagate refuses to complete it because Seagate and UPS aren’t talking apparently…

Update to my previous post:

July24th: they say that UPS needs more information and ask for any pictures of the hardrives or hard dives in the box while being dropped off. Fortunately I always take pictures of hard drives I buy and where I buy them from to keep track of them properly and not mix up receipts. So I send them the pictures of the actual drives showing SN,PN, etc. I inform them I unfortunately didn’t take video/picture of HDD’s in the package dropping them off.

July 28th:I reach out if there’s anything at all from UPS as I didn’t hear back anymore since 24th when I provided the pictures and told them to let me know if they could view them, or needed me to upload them to Google Drive or something. I’m told they got the pictures but investigation is ongoing by UPS.

However i checked the tracking number on UPS site. It had been closed since July 20th with “Proof of delivery”. I assume the Corporate response team member Steven filed the claim as entire package not delivered. When it was and it was even signed for by them, and CS had previously said drives were in the recertification/testing stage.

July 31st: they email back saying UPS is not communicating with them or providing any information they requested. Therefore they can’t help me until they can communicate with UPS. I reply that same day that it’s not right that the customer has to deal with all this just because UPS and Seagate can’t communicate. I request information like claim number, inspection notes, receiving photographs, UPS decision.

August 11th: after ghosting me for days, they respond with basically the same thing. And decline to provide any information other than UPS claim number.

Today I sent them a demand letter via certified mail, along with replying with a copy of it to the email chain. My next step is probably small claims court. It’s insane that for a company this large they are this terrible with customer support.

TLDR: sent in 3 expensive hard drives using a Seagate provided UPS shipping lable over 2 months ago. Seagate/UPS lost/stole the HDD’s. Seagate filed a claim. UPS closed claim, Seagate corporate support team and UPS aren’t talking to each other, so the customer is screwed because of “no communication” between UPS and Seagate. Demand letter has been sent today.

Beware of Seagate’s terrible RMA process.

Hi everyone, so on June 9th I opened an RMA for 2x 20TB ironwolf HDD’s and 1x16TB skyhawk surveillance HDD with Seagate. After I opened it I reached out to Seagate to see if they would be nice enough to issue a free shipping label as I had heard others got one for free just by asking. CS said sure and issued me one no fuss. So I shipped them out. Days go by and no update even though tracking number is marked as delivered to Seagate and signed by them.

June 19th: i reach out to seagate if there’s any update as it has now been a week that drives were delivered to them and my RMA portal showed 0 updates, not even a “received” update. CS tells me the drive is currently in the re-certificarion and testing stage. I inform CS agent that i had sent 3 drives under the single RMA and shipping label they provided. CS says that yes correct that i should get an update soon.

June 22nd: after reaching out to CS everyday and getting nowhere i file a BBB complaint as they seem to respond to issues there.

June 26th: Seagate “Corporate response team” member called “Steven” reaches out and tells me that they can’t find my hard drives because the package never had any in the first place. So they won’t be helping me further. They tell this to BBB and BBB considers it answered and closes complaint. I immediately respond that that’s not possible as I had shipped all drives and CS agent had confirmed they were received and were currently being processed.

June 30th: after some pressure, Seagate agrees to file a claim with UPS. They ask for proof of purchase, which I provide to them. They tell me it’ll take a 8-10 days.

Advice on what tracker I should target next

Hi everyone, I’m on about month 7 since I started my self hosting and torrenting adventure. Since then I’ve joined: MAM, Oldtoons, Seedpool, IPT, Aura4k, TL, BS and retroflix and have built some pretty good ratios and uploads. I setup my arr stack which doesn’t really have an issue finding movies/tv shows I request. For audiobooks I use MAM and manually download them and upload books I have that aren’t on there as afaik there is no option like sonarr/radarr. Anyway, what tracker should I be targeting next? I saw a lot of peoples go to is RED, but I don’t self host music nor am i that deep into music. Mosley just TV shows, movies, and audiobooks. I saw some discussion that Onlyencodes+ is also really good for media. Should I target that one next? If not, which one should I?

Thanks :D

Wobbly power button tank case

Bought a tank case for iPhone 17 pro max today at BestBuy. All the buttons feel nice and firm, except for the power button. It feels really wobbly and almost like it’ll fall out. Is it supposed to be like that or did I get a dud? I’ve had grip cases before and they didn’t feel like that.

Thanks!

[USA-IL] [H] 2x 8Tb WD red plus HDD, 1x 20Tb ironwolf pro HDD all less than 300POH [W] Local cash or WD purple/Seagate surveillance

Basically brand new drives. 8TB drives have about 250 hours each as they were only used to perform full long SMART tests and full read/write tests. No bad sectors at all. They were meant to be used as spares for my NAS. But I upgrade the drives in NAS so I had to upgrade my spare emergency drives capacity too.

The 20Tb I bought multiple of them and ended up with 1 extra. It’s directly from seagate. Only has about 36 POH as I did a full long smart test to make sure it’s in working condition. No pending/bad sectors. No errors at all.

Asking $220 for each 8TB drive and $580 for the 20TB drive. I’m local to 60120 but can drive to meet up.

Wiling to also trade for a WD Purple/Segate surveillance drive in near new condition. Preferably 16TB as that’s the limit my NVR supports.

Do yourself a favor and don’t install openclaw with today’s docker app update.

For those that don’t know. Openclaw has been heavily criticized for having security flaws that can lead to unauthorized access among other serious concerns.

Not to mention, that as of right now with today’s docker app update, Ugreen has failed to update docker engine to the latest release. The current build is 26.1.0, built in April 2024… 2 years out of date. Docker is missing 2 years worth of security updates. And Ugreen refuses to do anything about it.

With docker engine out of date, copyfail, and dirtyfrag, and now adding openclaw to the mix, it’s a VERY dangerous time to be using UGOS.

Any word on this? When you guys talked to NASCompares you stated that security is very important and top priority, yet you have failed for 2 years to actually secure UGOS.

Personally, I’m moving from UGOS. I vouched for it for a while and recommended users to try it before they just install a 3rd party OS. But I can’t do that anymore with Ugreen constantly ignoring security and treating it as the last thing on their mind when it should be top priority.

A little over a month ago 2 of my 18TB ironwolfs died in my NAS(DOA, died during testing). I RMA’ed them and finally got the replacements back, but during the wait I found a KILLER deal locally on 8x new 24Tb WD red pro’s. So I swapped all my NAS bays to them. I now have 8x18tb drives and no bays to put them in. Thinking of selling them as I don’t think I’ll be getting a 4th NAS anytime soon. The 2 replacement drives are still in the bag they come in. I think best thing to do would be to open it to make sure they aren’t dead no?

Also, what would be a fair pricing for both the 2 “new” ones and the 6 used ones?
