Am i really so dumb?

I’m preparing for IOQM, but I can’t solve every NCERT problem on my own. I mostly solve problems I’ve seen before or those with an approach I already know.

Is this normal, or Can I improve enough with practice?

Second : is reference book worth solving like i have a rs agarwal which is given by our school so should I spent time on it? Why mostly people don't recommend these books even though they have good question than ncert.

My Introvert Brain Struck Again 🥲

Today I went to a chat bhandar to eat aloo tikki with my college friends. The same stall was also serving pani puri. I noticed all people, after eating, going to take pani puri water (I know that's common).

After finishing, I went there. I was on a phone call. I was busy on the phone call, so I just took my hand over the drum of water and I didn't realize that. Then I said, "Thoda bhaiya pani dena," and the look bhaiya gave was so awkward and dangerous too. 🥲

And then I realized what the sh*t I just did. And bhaiya said, "Bhai, thoda piche kar lo."

At that moment, a girl standing nearby and eating pani puri noticed me and was trying not to laugh.

I quickly moved my hand away and stepped back, feeling super awkward and embarrassed. It was an embarrassing moment.

Please tell me I'm not the only one. Has anyone else had a similar awkward moment in public, or am I just the fool introvert who somehow keeps creating these situations? 😭

Confused About Starting UPSC Preparation During IIT Kanpur – Looking for Advice from Seniors

Hello everyone,

I am currently a 2nd-year student at IIT Kanpur and have recently started thinking seriously about preparing for UPSC. Since I come from a technical background and have not explored the civil services exam before, I have very limited knowledge about the exam pattern, preparation strategy, coaching options, and the overall journey. Because of this, I am feeling quite confused and would really appreciate some guidance from experienced aspirants.

My main questions are:

\- How should I begin UPSC preparation from scratch?

\- Is it practical to prepare for UPSC alongside the academic workload at IIT Kanpur?

\- Do coaching institutes cover the syllabus from the basics for students who are complete beginners

\- Which coaching institutes or programs would you recommend for an IIT Kanpur student?

\- Would online coaching be a better option than offline coaching while managing college?

\- What resources (NCERTs, newspapers, standard books, etc.) should I start with during my 2nd year?

At this stage, my aim is simply to understand the UPSC process properly and build a strong foundation while I am still in college. I am not looking for shortcuts; I just want to start in the right direction and avoid making costly mistakes in terms of time, effort, or coaching choices.

I would be grateful if seniors, IIT Kanpur students, or UPSC aspirants could share their experiences and suggestions.

Thank you!
