Bo Phut Beach

Hi. I just arrived to Koh Samui and I’m staying at Fisherman's Village. I want to know if Bo Phut Beach is safe to swim as I read some negative comments.

CEO with ADHD

Hi. I would like to ask you for some advice.

The CEO of the company I work for has ADHD and I want to understand how to work better with them.

In some moments I feel overwhelmed: first they say “lets focus on this specific task” and then they share a million other ideas and topics to be solved. That results in two reactions from my side:

  1. Either I start to try to do everything, I fail, and feel desperate and frustrated
  2. Or I feel forced to constantly put boundaries, decline ideas, etc which is a very hard position for me

Communication is also an issue. I don’t feel they are really listening to what I’m saying - they get the first sentence and then I can notice their mind went away.

Im getting more and more stressed with this job because of this. I work directly with them and need to find strategies to better deal with it.

PS: I really love my job, the team and the CEO is someone that really inspires me and motivates me to challenge myself, so I don’t want to leave, just learn how to deal with this.

I recently came across the concept of limerence, and it kind of hit me that I’ve been experiencing this for about 20 years without realizing it wasn’t the norm.

For most of my life, I just assumed everyone had intense crushes (sometimes multiple), got a bit obsessed, made up scenarios in their head, daydreamed constantly, and even “kept tabs” on the person. Saying it out loud now feels a bit strange, but back then it just felt normal to me.

Over time, I started noticing how exhausting it actually is. I also realized that these “feelings” would eventually fade, sometimes it took years, but I would always move on to a different person. Looking back, I can think of at least 10 different guys, all very different from each other.

At first, I genuinely thought I was in love, and it definitely affected some of my real relationships. But after a while, I began to notice the pattern and understood that it wasn’t really about those people. Still, it’s only very recently (I’m 30 now) that I’ve started to understand why I do this, and why I tend to choose certain types of people.

This awareness has helped a lot. I don’t give these thoughts the same weight anymore. But at the same time, it still feels stronger than me sometimes. For example, when I’m bored, there’s this urge to just start daydreaming about someone again. Part of me is like, “you know exactly what this is, don’t go there,” and another part is like, “just do it, it’ll feel good.” It honestly feels like chasing a dopamine hit.

Right now, I’m trying to understand not just who I fixate on, but what need this is fulfilling. And for me, a big part of it seems to be validation. In my limerence, I feel deeply seen and understood by these men. The dynamic changes depending on the person, sometimes it’s more emotional, sometimes more sexual, but the core is the same. I want to feel truly seen.

What’s interesting is that I’m actually in a healthy, long-term relationship. So I don’t think this comes from something missing there. It feels more like something unresolved in me, probably linked to not feeling seen or understood growing up. So I end up recreating that through these imagined connections, especially with men.

I’ve also noticed that I tend to fall into this when I’m bored, anxious, or emotionally dysregulated. It’s like my brain is looking for stimulation or trying to self-soothe. I also struggle with just not thinking, my mind always wants to latch onto something.

Anyway, I just wanted to share some of these realizations in case anyone else relates. I’m still figuring it out, but becoming aware of it has already made a big difference.

Happy to hear others’ experiences or thoughts on this.
