Stockholm Recommendations for accommodation and a day trip outside the city

I am visiting Stockholm in early September. I have got 3 days in the city, so I was planning 2 days in the city and then 1 day may be somewhere outside the city. Vaxholm seems nice and a good option. Looking for if there's anything better.

Also Stockholm seems to have a lot of hostel options, in what area in the city should I look for accommodation which will be closer to public transport? Thanks

Train from Oslo to Bergen

Hello, I am planning to travel from Oslo S to bergen through a train ride. I have heard lots of good things about the train ride. I was wondering where should I book the ticket from? I see there's rail ninja and vy.no. Since it's almost 7 hours long train ride, not sure what kind of trains are they? is the journey comfortable? RailNinja seems more expensive than the tickets available in vy.no.

I also found about Norway in a nutshell program which will start from Oslo and end in bergen with Flam and Voss in between which sounds nice too. Any advice whether I should directly go from Oslo to Bergen and then do a cruise trip from Bergen to Flam and Voss. Where would you recommend I should book my train ticket and cruise trip? Thanks

Between Copenhagen and Stockholm, where would you spend an extra day?

I am going to the Scandinavians in August for 11 days. I am starting from Copenhagen and finishing at Stockholm. I will be spending 6 days in Norway, a bit confused whether I should 3 days in Copenhagen or in Stockholm. Given both are cities, the vibe would probably be similar. What's your advice?

Hello, I am planning to visit to Copenhagen in August, so want to get some suggestions.

  1. It seems city center is a good area for accommodation, I am considering to book my stay at the NextHouse Copenhagen. Do you have any other recommendations?

  2. What are some of the famous Danish food/restaurants I must try, including any food hall and street foods?

  3. I have only 2.5 days and I am planning to see Strøget, Nyhavn, Amalienborg Palace, Frederik's Church, Tivoli Gardens, Islands Brygge, Town of Christiana(if time permits), little mermaid statue. Do you want me to omit something from this and add something else which I must not miss. I am not a big fan of museums of arts, but i definitely like a fun museum like illusion museum or aerospace museum. Although I won't have a car, i would rely on public transport and renting a bike.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Hello, I am going for my first solo travel to the beautiful Scandinavian countries. I am starting the journey from Copenhagen and planning to travel to Norway after it. Right now I am thinking about CPH -> Oslo -> Flam -> Bergen and spending 2days/2nights at each place. Will it be too hectic considering the travel from CPH to Oslo and Oslo to Flam are almost over 8 hours (if I take a bus/ferry).

Apart from this, need some hidden gems suggestions that I must visit during my trip. I am more of a nature person, so would prefer some hikings or trails to enjoy sunset/sunrise. I would definitely appreciate some local food/brewery suggestions as well.

Also I have the following questions.

  1. Do I need to carry cash in Denmark or Norway or Sweden? or an international credit card should be good enough?
  2. How is the tipping culture in the countries? I am from the US and I usually tip 18-20% for a coffee or dinner. I have read somewhere that some European countries take tipping as offensive.
  3. Hostel suggestions in Norway, not sure how famous hostel culture is in Norway.
  4. Anything that I should know about the culture or expect something that's not common.
  5. Can I get through by just English or should I pick up some common phrases in Norwegian?

Thank you.
