City Bike Racks

City Bike Racks

Just something to be aware of. New bike racks were installed on Como Ave SE. I was under the impression that the city did it, but I’m not sure. I was happy to see them and have been using them. However, I took a closer look today and realized I can hand loosen the bolts. These are useless.

As I said, I think the city installed them, so I reported it to 311.

Just be sure to check what you lock your bike to.

Bike Racks in Minneapolis Parks

I’m at Boom Island for the TC Solidarity Picnic and had a really weird thought. Since parks like this are along bike paths, maybe they should have bike parking? There are a small number of racks designed eons before the U-Lock, but they’re useless.

From Cell to Cell, Jailed Minnesota Unionists Sang of Freedom

Among the 15 people indicted yesterday in Minneapolis were union brothers such as Emmett Doyle. Emmett, also a singer/songwriter, won an award for “2025 StrIke Song of the Year” for his song “Hold Fast (Hold the Line)”

Emmett’s piece about his experience in lockup was published by Labor Notes. It‘s worth a read.

What is this?

I’m going to Relish tonight to see a couple of old friends (Kari Tauring and David De Young) read poetry, so I was perusing their menu on their website.

They say the Italian Stallion is a “Italian sausage brat” and I’m really confused. Which is it? Or is it some sort of sausage these two axis powers created during WW2?

One thing I’m certain of is there’s no way Kramarczuk’s named it.

As a side note, I see the Cousin Richie is served “with au jus.”

Alright, this old man is done yelling at the cloud.
