"Emergency vehicle nearby"

A message like this popped up on my dash this afternoon (25 Taos SE Black) and sure enough I saw an ambulance turn off about a block away. I presume it detected the siren sound but could have been the strobe to flip the traffic lights.

Never seen that before.

Cover charge

Currently in Italy where the service fee is covered by a flat cover charge, mostly around 2.5 euro per person which also includes a bread basket.

Much more reasonable approach.

Does anyone have a Taos with CarPlay that just works?

My wireless CarPlay is so erratic that it fails to connect the majority of the time. One of the following may fix it.

  1. Rebooting the Entertainment center
  2. Unlocking my phone
  3. Disable and Enabling the Bluetooth on my phone
  4. Rebooting my phone
  5. Connecting via cable

Even connecting via cable isn't a surefire success, but it is the most likely to succeed.

Even when everything seems like it is connected and the map is on the screen, sometimes it acts like it has no data connection to the internet when entering an address because it won't resolve to anything.

Other than this I'm very happy with the car.

P.S. This is a 2025 SE Black.

EDIT: Thanks for all the responses. It seems that most people have a decent experience with wireless CarPlay but for a notable minority like myself it is far from reliable. I tend to lean toward it being a phone issue in my case. My phone is the iPhone 17 Pro and I do sometimes have to cycle the Bluetooth to connect earbuds. My understanding is that wireless CarPlay uses Bluetooth to initiate the connection and then switches to WiFi for the remainder of the session.
For now I’m just getting used to being wired, which 98%+ reliable.

Lane Centering

I have a 25 Taos SE Black which has Lane Assist. When enabled, the vehicle bounces off the lane markings like a bowling ball with the bumpers down. Honestly looks like a barely in control drunk driver.

I’ve read the term lane centering in connection with my Taos. This sounds like the bowling ball is going down the middle of the lane, no bumpers required.

Are these really two different things or just two similar things going by different names?
