How do you work with imagination during periods of physical healing or recovery?

Hi beautiful souls!

How do you use imagination (or some form of visualization) when going through a period of physical injury, illness, or recovery?

(*with a physical cause)

I'm particularly interested in this from an energy work, shamanic, or spiritual perspective.

When your physical body is going through a process of healing or recovery, without any certainty or guarantee that it will fully get better, what role can imagination play? Can it open up possibilities for something magical, unexpected, or even miraculous?

Do you work with visualization, inner landscapes, symbolic journeys, energy practices, or other forms of imaginative exploration?

I'm curious about both:

▪︎Imagination as a way of supporting physical healing.

▪︎What imagination might make possible within us, regardless of the physical outcome.

I'd love to hear about any personal experiences, practices, or perspectives that have been meaningful to you during such periods.

How do you engage with imagination when your body, or a particular part of it, needs to heal, especially when there may be a critical window for recovery? Has imagination been helpful in your experience? Or what are your thoughts on its potential in this context?

Is linguistic/cognitive processing, along with TRE, necessary throughout the healing process? (Past therapy abuse experiences)

For those who have experienced therapy-related abuse or harm, have you been able to continue your healing journey through TRE without relying on verbal or cognitive processing?

I'm particularly interested in whether healing can unfold primarily through somatic processes, without needing to consciously analyze, verbalize, or make sense of traumatic experiences.

If you've taken this approach, I'd love to hear about your experience. Did you find that verbal or cognitive processing became necessary at any point, or was TRE sufficient for you?

Unexpected “energy sending” during a live guided meditation — now I have severe joint pain, exhaustion, and don’t feel like myself

TL;DR: I joined a paid guided meditation with roughly 300–400 participants. The facilitator and medium said they were keeping everyone energetically safe and sovereign, but near the end the session unexpectedly shifted into sending energy toward Nepal, which had not been disclosed in the event description. During that portion I suddenly felt drained, overwhelmed, and physically unwell, and since then I’ve had widespread joint/body pain, headaches, severe fatigue, and a strong sense of not being back to my normal baseline. The organizers later did an SRT clearing and said they found and cleared what they described as a “demonic” attachment, but my symptoms have continued after feeling better for a few hours. I’m looking for people who have experienced something similar after group meditation/energy work and what actually helped them recover.

About a week ago, I attended a paid guided meditation session. The session was led by a facilitator and a medium, and at the beginning they said they were checking the energetic safety of the group and helping keep everyone sovereign and protected throughout the session. There were somewhere between 300 and 400 participants (unexpected number).

That reassurance was part of why I felt maybe I could trust and participate, although in retrospect I’m not sure how realistic it is to guarantee energetic safety for such a large group for an extended period of time. I personally haven’t encountered a practitioner or shaman who claimed they could fully secure a container of that size for more than an hour or two, so I’m now questioning how much confidence I or anyone should place in that assurance.

Near the end, the session unexpectedly shifted into sending energy toward Nepal, an area affected by a recent natural disaster and severe instability. This part was not mentioned in the event description when I signed up.

During that portion, I suddenly felt that the “light” or energy I had built up throughout the meditation was suddenly gone. I felt extremely drained, developed a headache and pain throughout my body, and had the sense that something external was trying to keep my energy "gates" in my body open. I also began having disturbing images or feelings connected to people affected by the disaster (like, they or their energies were trying to experience my body and environment unaffected by the natural disaster).

Since then, I’ve developed symptoms I did not have before: widespread joint and body pain, headaches, extreme fatigue/energy depletion, and a strong sense of not feeling like myself. It has felt somewhat like sudden fibromyalgia-type symptoms. Despite more rest, self-care, cleansing practices, and reflection, I have not returned to my previous baseline.

I contacted the organizers and asked them to look into what happened. I already had an SRT clearing booked with them, and they moved it forward without charging the expedited fee. According to their clearing report, they identified and cleared what they described as a “demonic” attachment. They told me they did not believe it attached during the Nepal portion itself, but rather afterward while I was panicking following what they described as a triggered past-life memory.

At that point, I was less concerned with whether that explanation was literally true and more concerned with whether my sudden physical and mental symptoms would actually resolve and whether I would return to my healthy baseline.

However, within a few hours of the clearing, I again experienced a sudden drained feeling along with thoughts or sensations like “still here,” “I can still attach to you,” or “it’s taken over.” I had not done anything unusually stressful or negative after the clearing and had actually been trying hard to prioritize rest and self care, but I still did not return to normal.

Yesterday I had to cancel my entire day because I woke up with severe joint/body pain, headache, heaviness, exhaustion, and a strong feeling of not being fully myself, almost as though something was occupying my body.

(And this past week, I could only function for a lot shorter period of time each day due to these symptoms. Had to change my work schedule and other things as well.)

I emailed the organizers again to explain that the symptoms are still affecting my daily functioning and that the Nepal portion of the meditation did not feel fully informed or consensual to me. They usually reply within a few hours (including weekends), but this time I have not heard back for 2–3 days. (Hence posting here to seek more practical insights..)

Has anyone experienced anything similar after an intense guided meditation, energy work, or spiritual practice? If so, what helped you return to your normal baseline?

I’m also curious whether anyone has experience with approaches like kambo or plant medicine in situations like this, although I’m cautious about doing anything intense while I’m already feeling physically depleted.

> Should I do another SRT clearing (Lara Starr) ASAP?

> Should I look for another healer / energy worker?

> What's happening?

(Lara in the past posted a video discussing how her client was not fully cleared after an SRT clearing and some entity in the client's field/system was trying to reach Lara via email... So I personally wonder if something is not fully cleared.)

> I've had other spiritual experiences in the past, but nothing ever made me feel or be this way before. Even if it's related to past life, it's not something i want in this life, and I just don't know how to handle this very unexpected and undesirable situation. I feel very lost and underresourced in trying to find my way forward.

Thank you so much for reading and considering sharing your insights or experiences.

The service was through Lara Starr’s website.

I don't intend to cause any conflict or similar, I just need more practical insights at this point.

Finding an STS path through LJST, Neuroscience, or Philosophy at Amherst?

Hi! I’m a student considering transferring to Amherst, and I’m especially interested in STS — Science, Technology, and Society. I know the name of the field/major varies a lot by school, so I’m trying to understand what that kind of path might look like at Amherst.

Has anyone with similar interests found a good academic path there, perhaps through majors or departments like LJST, Neuroscience, Philosophy, or related areas? I’d also love to hear if you know anyone who has shaped an STS-like focus through coursework, advising, thesis work, or interdisciplinary study at Amherst.

Thanks so much!
