My problem with Arita
I know the developers are putting a lot of effort into improving the website and its updates, so I feel bad saying this. However, as a free user, I no longer feel that I can roleplay on this website.
Arita is currently the only chatstyle available to me, and unfortunately, I find it extremely boring:
- The responses are long, but the actual dialogue is very short. Simple Response Instructions do not seem to help much.
- It captures the exact same vibe and tone as Character.ai, almost like it was tuned to mirror its specific response style.
- There is very little action, creativity, or actual story progression. It often feels like it is only reacting to my message instead of contributing to the scene.
- It does not have enough flexibility to control or speak for other characters. It stays restricted to the character it is roleplaying.
- The dialogue and reactions become repetitive, especially compared to the other chatstyles.
- It does not consistently follow italic formatting unless I explicitly tell it to.
- I have tried many different prompts to improve these issues, but they have not made much difference.
The Loss of Notogawa & Kojima
I know I have said this before, but I still believe losing Notogawa and Kojima was the biggest loss for this website. They could easily compete with the premium chatstyles in terms of dialogue, creativity, character interaction, and story progression.
I also think free users need at least one strong chatstyle that provides a good and engaging roleplay experience. Arita currently does not give me that.
This is only my personal experience, and I apologize if there are users who genuinely enjoy Arita. I just did not leave character.ai to find a similar experience on my favorite roleplay website. I really hope the developers will reconsider the available free chatstyles. Please, I ask you to bring Notogawa and Kojima back. They were some of the best free chatstyles—not just on this platform, but across AI chat platforms as a whole, and I would really appreciate having them available again.
