Sanitation workers mistreating trash cans

Is it part of the job description for sanitation workers to completely mishandle trash cans? 😂 I’m not saying they need to hold them with their pinkies and be super delicate, but it makes no sense to me that they just throw the cans back into the road.

Sometimes they leave them literally in the middle of the street, and cars have to swerve around them. Today, I watched them throw my trash can so hard that the lid broke off. They did the same thing with my neighbors’ cans, and when they saw a car coming, they just kicked one closer to the sidewalk.

Am I thinking too hard about this? Because to me, it seems like a safety issue. Why can’t they just put the cans back where they got them? Everyone neatly puts their cans out every week, and they have wheels, so they can literally just wheel them back.

This is my first time living in the suburbs, so maybe this is normal and I just don’t know. But God forbid someone doesn’t notice my trash can sitting in the street, swerves to avoid it, and gets into an accident. Who’s liable then?

Company that did not hire me wants feedback

I applied to a job 4 days ago. 2 days ago, I received a rejection with no insight on why I was rejected. Now today, they email asking feedback. Huh? Feedback on what? I wasn't even invited for a phone screening. The only feedback I have is for them to discontinue requesting feedback - especially from rejected candidates who were never interviewed. They're just going to get a lot of negative feedback. I don't even remember applying to the role. I've just been applying to things that align with my interest and background. The only feedback is give me a job! For all I know, they probably did not review the resume themselves and had I'm sort of AI tool that's already biased review my resume. Then Auto reject. But yet you want me to take my time to answer questions and give you an open-ended response to me not being hired? No thanks.

Fired & Pregnant

Just as the heading reads, I've just been fired. It happened an hour ago. I'm just so upset.

I knew it was a possibility as my performance did decline during my first trimester. Not that I'm making excuses, but this role was in a field I've never worked in and the tasks themselves were something I've ever done. The role required a lot more handholding than both me and my hirers realized and I received no training. Most days I was left on my own.

That said, I had met with my manager and was on some sort of PIP and I knew my performance was improving when clearer expectations were set. We were supposed to have a talk about it this week. Today, I get invited to an impromptu check-in meeting with the department's director and I just knew. During the meeting, my manager wasn't there. It was just me and the director. He explained that they are doing away with one of the company's products/offerings and that my role would be impacted and he decided today would be my last day.

I was taken aback. And asked for clarification because I knew my performance was in question but I was making strides and even receiving positive feedback here and there. So now, I'm at a loss. If they are phasing out a company arm, why so abrupt? Can't I be considered for other positions?

I've been fired before from another company before - for reasons unrelated to my performance. It was related to a company wide reorganization. Other people on my team were also fired. But even then the director at that company tried to shift me around to different departments to avoid firing me but the reorg essentially tightened up the teams and there was no role for me. Fast forward to today, this director explained that two things are happening in parallel (my performance and business decisions) and that the case is that my role has been eliminated indefinitely.

I'm over it. I just want to move on. I don't even want to dwell too much on what it means to be unemployed and pregnant. Now I'm just worried about finding a job in this horrid job market and navigating pregnancy. Is it even possible to get a job while pregnant? How far in a pregnancy do you think it's too late to apply for jobs? When interviewing, do I let the hiring manager know I'm pregnant? If no, when do I tell my team that I'm pregnant after being hired?

I would really appreciate any insight from anyone who has experienced being fired in the middle of pregnancy. I know this was a long read. But thank you for taking the time out to read it and share your feedback.
