Tom Bombadil (Lord of the Rings): The one ring’s powers have no effect on him, he can wear it without corrupting effect, can see Frodo when he turns invisible, and can do magic on it. However, he is not selected to join the fellowship because he doesn’t recognize the importance of the one ring powers and therefore a potential risk is him misplacing it.

Luffy (One Piece): He has two immunities. The first one was the Goro Goro no mi, which due to his rubber body, makes him completely immune to electric attacks and then later on, and this isn’t even related to his powers or anything, he’s unfazed by Boa using the Mero Mero No mi on him (that fruit turns the user’s own emotions towards Boa, specifically attraction due to her beauty, against them and turns them to stone).

It’s honestly telling that for as (rightfully) controversial season 3 is, nobody defends Jun-Ho’s shit-ass writing. It’s like that one family guy gag they keep roasting Seth Green and Chris brings up some movies he played in and then Carter says “What? Because of Seth Green?” If we were just looking in the context of the Island search mission it’d be the most F- tier unsalvageable slop written in history.

There are many games where the character can make a choice that impacts the ending, it could be an optimistic, good ending, or a bad ending where everything goes to shit. Then the next installment shows which one the devs decided to go with and consider canon.

GTA V: Given Online reveals that Trevor and Michael are still alive, it solidifies that option C was canon. Honestly figured. It’s the one that wraps up everything and it also doesn’t restrict post story content that involve Trevor and Michael.

Mortal Kombat 1: MK11 itself already had multiple endings, one where Liu Kang prevents the reset and gets to work with Kitana in the new era, another where Kronika did reset but Liu Kang still won, then a third one Kronika wins. The Aftermath confirms Liu Kang did in fact beat Kronika but she did reset, and then Shang Tsung comes along and kills Kronika as part of a plot by Liu Kang to get the crown in the very end. The Aftermath DLC ends with the options of playing either Liu Kang or Shang Tsung, and the victor is the one we see their visions of an ideal timeline. As of Mortal Kombat 1 in 2023, both endings are canon though it ends with Fire god Liu Kang killing Titan Shang Tsung

Half-Life: HL2 reveals that Gordon Freeman ultimately accepted working with the G-Man and is put in stasis until he is needed as the one true free man to liberate earth from the combine.

Professor Pyg (DC): His whole deal is kidnapping, drugging and mutilating people and turning them into his dollotron minions. But was able to be shown in Beware the Batman and Brave and the Bold.

Carnage (Marvel): Managed to be put in Spider-Man TAS and Ultimate Spider-Man. The former series is interesting in that while he never is shown actually killing someone like how Cletus usually would, the writers did give him the ability to absorb souls which might actually be more evil since he’s not giving his victims the possibility of resting in peace either.

Michael Myers (Halloween): Was able to make it to Fortnite

Mortal Kombat: The 1995 movie is a lot less bloody and gruesome compared to the mainline games.

Basically the most iconic weapon or kill in a series notorious for bloodshed.

Reverse Bear Trap (Saw): Perhaps the most iconic trap in the franchise. It’s been revisited in some form or another across many of the future movies, games, even dead by daylight made it Amanda’s main weapon to use on survivors to slow them down fixing generators. But ironically we never actually saw the original RBT actually kill someone until Saw VII.

Log truck (Final destination): The scene that scarred an entire generation.

Mortal Kombat: In the Midway era, Sub-Zero’s spine rip is the most memorable from the first game and has been re used on many occasions. Fun fact, it’s what caused the ESRB rating mechanic to be introduced.

Mortal Kombat 9: Cool Bi-Han (the first Sub-Zero) is once again the one with the iconic fatality. For the NRS era, Noob Saibot’s make a wish fatality might be the one people remember the most across the entire trilogy of games in the second timeline.

A) Did not bother trying to share anything about what he knew on the hosts of the game (seriously like what exactly was he planning when the mercs raid the island and start shooting?)

B) Captain Park. Did he just never bother trying to dig deeper about this mysterious guy who helped him out of the water conveniently not long after he got shot? What’s even more pathetic is how easily Woo-Seok was able to uncover his identity.

C) He’s not even likable in personality or narratively cohesive after season 1. He’s dismissive of his Allies’ theories, he hides vital information as mentioned earlier, he never tried apologizing or thanking Woo-Seok over him getting arrested and getting bitten by a dog and it saving his ass (did he actually? The fact that I can barely remember shows how much of a snooze fest his scenes are), he is conveniently void of learning about how In-Ho pretended to be a player and he actively fucked with Gi-Hun’s rebellion plan and will never show any regrets on what he could have done differently. And did he at all have anything to share with Interpol? They just cut out a huge chunk of story potential with the authorities finding the island. Also he fucks with the main themes criticizing capitalism considering he gets to walk away with 45.6 billion won despite how his brother had taken dirty money and it started his downward spiral, for Gi-Hun it’s treated as something he is strongly traumatized by and can’t bear to associate with.

When the character could not have chosen a worse person to try their tricks on, either because the attempted victim is an expert at this stuff or because they have powers making them highly resistant.

Better Call Saul: Right from the first episode. Saul runs into two skateboarder twins trying to do a hit and run scam only that he scolds them with the title’s quote because judging by his shit pile of a car, he’s the absolute furthest person to be scammed. And as Slipping Jimmy he pulled lots of similar schemes so he never fell for their tricks.

Mortal Kombat: Scorpion no-sells Sektor’s Fire.

Justice League: The ultimen twins tried to blast Aquaman with water and drown him, but he just says “King of the seas, remember?”

Wild Bill Wharton (Green Mile): Wasn’t put in jail because of the assault and murder of two sisters that got Coffey framed, but because of a separate bank robbery and triple murder.

Al Capone (irl): Finally was taken down and put in prison not because of his racketeering, murdering or smuggling, but because he was a tax cheat. Nice shout out in BTAS when Joker, also a gangster, points out that he’ll never fuck with the IRS.

Scarecrow (Injustice): Awesome that NRS was able to get Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger) to play the Scarecrow in this game. And he does a really good job being creepy like how Freddy was.

Ian Peek (Batman Beyond): Was played by Michael McKean, who is known to many as Chuck McGill from Better Call Saul.

Wreck-Gar (Transformers): In animated he was voiced by Weird Al Yankovic.

I love the contrast between the “warm” feeling of red compared to the “cooler” feeling of silver. Also both of them are often have similarly bright shades which helps both colors feel they mesh well together

Voldemort (Harry Potter): On top of having a Mom and Dad who legit didn’t give enough of a shit to be there for him, his Mom came from a long inbred line of pure bloods.

Joffrey Baratheon (Game of Thrones): Robert is advertised as his legal father, but he’s really the inbred child of Cersei and her twin brother Jaime.

Ramsay Snow (Game of Thrones): A product of his father assaulting a woman and didn’t care to pay any mind to him until his true born son Domeric died under mysterious circumstances (supposedly Ramsay may have killed him).

Todd (Breaking Bad): In Felina after Walter slaughters his gang, Jesse catches Todd off guard and snaps his neck with his chains. What makes Todd especially pathetic here, besides him just being oblivious to how Walter by all means wouldn’t be cool with Jack’s gang after killing Hank and taking his money, is that Jesse had spent 6 months being enslaved and beaten and living in a cage, and that even before that went down, he wasn’t known to be very physically capable, getting beaten up a LOT, and he took a lot of drugs. So damn Todd has a fucking weak neck.

Lalo Salamanca (Better Call Saul): Dies from Gus shooting him in the neck

Sale (JJBA): Does get shot in that area, but due to his stand managed to stop it from hitting anywhere deeper.

Of course I say ironic, but other (and often the main reason) it’s the villain just being an idiot.

Breaking Bad: Having stolen his money and killed his brother-in-law, one would expect Jack to also shoot Walt, a man he knows must despise him, or even turn him to his side for good, as even Jack knew Walt would be a wanted man within a few moments. Not to mention Walter was very much telling them to not shoot Hank and offered all his money to save him and his reaction to Hank’s death. This ends predictably with Jack and his crew being slaughtered. What’s even more ironic is that Jack was planning on bringing Walter to his compound to be killed in Felina, so it’s not like he really trusted him.

Voldemort (Harry Potter): After taking over the ministry and implanting some death eaters as teachers in Hogwarts, for some reason he just does essentially nothing about the other teachers who very much were on Dumbledore’s side and don’t like death eaters much, nor does he do anything about Arthur and Ginny who are order members/their relatives, despite how effective using hostages was in OOTP that it got the main cast to the ministry building and fell into a trap. Guess how this ends? Yeah, when Harry gets to Hogwarts, he has a lot more people who can support him in the final battle and the death eaters all are captured or killed. Considering how he eventually literally leads a terrorist attack to kill the resistance in the final battle of Hogwarts, him supposedly “respecting” the teachers is a really flimsy reasoning. Funny how Umbridge felt more like a harmful force against the school than the big bad.

Shao Kahn (Mortal Kombat): By taking Kitana in as his own foster daughter and training her as an assassin in his army, the moment she found out the truth and joined the good guys, Shao Kahn only got himself yet another dangerous opponent who, in some cases like MK11 wind up flat out defeating him.

Frank Tenpenny (GTA San Andreas)

The police department (squid game): It’s easy to count on one finger the number of times any of the law enforcement figures ever act to the benefit of the good guys, particularly with the Hwang brothers. One is a fired ex-cop who wound up becoming the host of an event seeing vagrants being murdered in games every year, Jun-Ho’s a dumbass who derailed an entire infiltration plan by virtue of lying about not knowing the Front Man’s identity (this horribly impacts Gi-Hun later when said Front Man infiltrates the games) as well as bringing a mole into their mission which utterly fucked Gi-Hun over. Unironically Gi-Hun might have been BETTER off without that fool tagging along.

Family guy: Lots of the police, particularly Joe Swanson are notoriously incompetent or corrupt. And this clip of the British policeman isn’t even funny anymore in today’s climate with their completely fucked priorities.

Barricade (Transformers): his disguise worked tricking Sam Witwicky into thinking he was here to help.

Batman (Justice League unlimited): To have Circe undo a spell she put on Wonder Woman, Batman sings, and does it well enough Circe follows through on her word.

Chuck McGill (Better call Saul): In the season 4 finale, while celebrating Jimmy passing the bar exam, HHM holds a karaoke night with Chuck having the spotlight of singing “The winner takes it all”
