Undiagnosed cat asthma care

I’m 16 in the US and I’m like 90% sure my 1 year old cat has asthma, but I can’t take him to the vet because I can’t afford all the tests and vet prescribed inhalers.

I’ve noticed his breathing has always been more noticeable than my other cat ever since I got him at 8 months. He sighs and makes sounds so I always suspected asthma, but recently he’s been coughing and sneezing more.

Is there any recommendations or suggestions I can use to help calm his asthma. I know that the inhalers that humans use are the same ones as the ones cats are prescribed, but I would need to be absolutely sure and prescribed by a vet before giving him it right? I just cant afford the vet bills.
