MPC One+ Crashing and other Issues in Controller Mode

I've been a bit frustrated with this for a while and cannot find a solution. My MPC One+ works perfectly fine in standalone mode, but whenever I plug it into my computer and switch to controller mode there are multiple issues.

1 - The shift button, menu button, step sequence button, etc act as pads and produce sounds when pressed. They still operate their normal functions too. It's very odd.

2 - I am unable to record or play anything. It says I am recording when I press the button but nothing comes out.

3 - Constant crashing. Oftentimes it will just be disconnecting from the computer and returning to that dreaded red screen. Othertimes it will produce this loud searing noise in my speakers, completely freeze, and I'll have to force it to shut off.

For context, I am using the MPC 3.0 software plugin on garage band using a mac.

If anyone knows how I can solve these issues, please let me know. Thank you!

Chances of getting in?

Hi!! I’m a really big fan of UCSC and I think it’s one of the schools I’m considering the most, although I’m not sure how far of a reach it is. I have a 3.3 unweighted but all honors and 3 APs, BUT since I am an out of state student at a very selective and difficult high school in a big city, the UC weighted gpa only gets me to 3.45, but my actual weighted GPA is 4.4 due to my honors classes. My grades dropped a lot in my sophomore year due to severe mental health struggles and having to be taken out of school to go to a hospital, which I can mention in a letter of extenuating circumstances. I know UC does not care about test scores or senior year grades, but I got a 31 on the ACT and I’m taking 2 more APs in my senior year. Based on my research it seems like a reach, but I want to see what you guys think. Thanks!!!

There’s literally 3 days left and everyone else at my school has already committed 😭 I’m choosing between university of Minnesota, temple university, and Fordham. They’re all such different schools and idk which one I want so I doubt I’ll be able to make a decision. I haven’t been able to focus on anything else other than thinking about colleges. I’m afraid I’ll pick the wrong one.

Edit: Majoring in polisci but open to other options, mostly in the liberal arts and humanities
