Minimalist Equipment, Maximalist Music Output!
Finally got my hands on an MPCX after few years of being on the Live2. The extra q links, bigger screen, and dedicated buttons have been a game changer!

I’ve been looking for a long time the best groove box type workflow, Ive bought MPC live 3, MPC sample, Roland p6, Ableton move and push 3 standalone, launchpad with grooverider 2 on iPad, Drambo, Ableton note, Logic Pro.
My search is finally over. I will be selling all of the above as now I have found the ultimate portable way of making music.
Drum roll………
Bitwig 6.1 on a surface pro x2 elite.
It’s like Ableton and MPC 3.7 on steroids. I have a lovely mpe touchscreen to play pads and keys. Access to all my favourite kontakt libraries including some of the instruments that are on MPC like cloud supply and nacht. And most importantly omnisphere 3 which is my forever synth plugin. Arturia pigments.
And my fav neural DSP plugin Rabea for mad guitar tones. Let’s face it, the amp sim on MPC sucks balls compared to quality captures.
Using a pen to score on the piano roll is a dream and also moving audio around with stretch warp markers is amazingly quick and satisfying with the best sounding time stretching algorithms I’ve ever heard.
And have a look at the sampler in 6.1. Just wow. I’m never looking back!
I did enjoy the MPC live but the workflow for me always ended up in Ableton as I don’t like the midi editor for scoring.
For me there is nothing the MPC has that Bitwig doesn’t completely crush.
Just thought I’d share for anyone else out there who feels like there MPC is not quite meeting there hopes and dreams.
I’m not a boom bap sample type guy, I prefer playing keys and instruments and sampling and chopping my own recordings. So high quality vst’s are important to me. It’s hard to like sounds on MPC when you know your vst libraries are so much better. Now I have it all on an iPad size tablet with awesome battery life. The only problem is, it’s on windows.
Im thinking about buying a korg triton, but idk if i would be wasting my money or not. I enjoy working on older equipment because i like the hands on feel and they seem less complicated than newer equipment. The korg triton is very expensive tho so im thinking about buying the le version.
I'm new to the MPC one (gen 1)
I'm wondering two things:
should I update the firmware? it came on 3.5. but I've seen other posts saying updating firmware bricked their mpc. I'm wondering if it's safe to go to 3.7 or 3.9. or if its safest to stay where I'm at?
what size SD card and speed do ya'll recommend? right now I'm using my external hard drive but I'd like something dedicated to my mpc
I've been a bit frustrated with this for a while and cannot find a solution. My MPC One+ works perfectly fine in standalone mode, but whenever I plug it into my computer and switch to controller mode there are multiple issues.
1 - The shift button, menu button, step sequence button, etc act as pads and produce sounds when pressed. They still operate their normal functions too. It's very odd.
2 - I am unable to record or play anything. It says I am recording when I press the button but nothing comes out.
3 - Constant crashing. Oftentimes it will just be disconnecting from the computer and returning to that dreaded red screen. Othertimes it will produce this loud searing noise in my speakers, completely freeze, and I'll have to force it to shut off.
For context, I am using the MPC 3.0 software plugin on garage band using a mac.
If anyone knows how I can solve these issues, please let me know. Thank you!
I have many drum kits from a library on my PC, and I've copied them to the microSD card of my Akai MPC Sample to try and use them. However, when I try to load them, I need a file in a specific format for it to be recognized. What format should it be, or how can I do it so I don't have to load the pads one by one?
nothing serious, just general chat, memes, music, random shit, vc, etc
figured it'd be cool to have a little community outside of reddit, if anyone wants to join comment or dm me and i'll send you the invite
Hi there!
This week it's 0141's turn. This one came out a little bit heavier than usual.
Thanks for all your support and kind words!
Hope you enjoy!
My friend and I got MPC's sometime ago and we have both been making quite a lot of music on them. My friend uses stem separation to take out the drums or extract a melody of some sort, but ive never actually done that. I don't think its wrong, it has become a fundamental tool for a lot of artists, but I use filters and other plugins instead when i need to achieve a similar outcome. To me it kinda feels like digging through a vinyl to find good parts to sample rather than taking a snippet and feeding it into an ai feels more musical. I'm still pretty new to music, so I might be tripping.
looking for beta Testers. Will have to sign NDA. Looking for MPC live 3 and Live 2 users.
If you have sp4o4 - MPC Sample - Digitakt
Hit me up as well.
message me on here for more details
Thank you.
( sorry for the upload without audio on the first post ) I absolutely love this beat but there is a lot going on so I'm worried that there wouldn't be enough space for an artist thoughts?
So I own an mpc live 2 now. I was wondering how do you guys structure and arrange your song? Do you mostly use the arranger or do you use clip matrix or the song mode? I was trying to set up clip matrix but unfortunately it seems it's only available for people that pay or own a live 3.
Just wanted to share a new beat. Sampled "Down in the valley" by Otis. I always have to add acapella when done ;) Love Denzel rapping here!

Used the akai mpc sample.
Here's my MPC Live 3! After moving from the Live 2 I realized the Live 3 is WAAAAAAAY faster!!! If y'all wanna see me re-do the 2pac song I produced using the Live 3 live... Let me know!
