Daily Drive 8th-9th gen F150?
I am looking at getting a late 80s to mid 90s Ford F150 for a daily driver. My commute isn’t long, however I do need a 4x4 because I work in snow emergencies. I want a 90s Ford truck because they are cheaper but I also just find them cool. I also am planning to move out and I need to get rid of having a car payment altogether, as well as be able to handle inclement weather on my own. I’m not looking to be talked out of this truck, just to know what I am getting in to with it. Not everyone will agree with me buying this but I don’t care, I just want advice on making it work for me.
What price range would be best to aim for?
What are common issues? (I am a mechanic so I have no problem doing my own work)
What are other tips for these trucks?
What songs would be on the radio in the year this car was made?
Advice for a beginner
Hi. I’m trying to get into videography on the side and I need help. I have a camera that was a gift from years ago which I never used, I plan to use it as a starter till I get better and can afford a better camera. My goal is to make my own independent films.
The camera I have is a canon vixia hf 800. Are there any lenses I could buy for it to improve it?
Also, what editing software should I use to start out with?
I don’t expect to be of high quality at first, I just want to get going on this because I’ve always wanted to do videography and I’m tired of not doing it.
Is it a bad idea to wear a white felt hat as a mechanic?
Hi, I work on heavy diesel equipment and typically my hands see their fair share of grime and oil. I really want to get a white or cream stetson felt hat, however I am afraid of ruining the look of the hat and staining it. It is also worth noting that I do wash my hands thoroughly at the end of every day, when I would be putting the hat on, but not all of the grime and oil comes off so easily.
Should I be concerned?
Edit: I forgot to mention I wouldn’t wear this hat while I’m working, but before and after hours.
What hat should I get next?
I have a straw hat for the summer and want a felt hat for the winter. Anybody have any recommendations for felt hats of this shape? I’m looking for either white or brown, color wise. My budget is also, preferably, below $500.
It’s also worth noting I work outside and in the snow during the winter, if that helps with recommendations.
In the Grey (2026) wasn’t a bad movie
I must preface this with the fact that I never expected the movie to be a master piece. I expected a very contrived plot that was poorly paced and only written to set up a really good action sequence. I got just that. I felt the characters and actors did well in the movie, as well.
Another topic to cover is the guns. I know not everyone is into guns, but as someone who is into guns it sucks watching action movies where the gun usage is poorly done. In this movie, the guns were not distracting and nobody did anything obnoxious with them (like spinning before shooting).
Is there anyone else that agrees? What are your thoughts?
