Question about local resolution

Officers, what does local resolution of a complaint actually look like from your side? Is it generally just an informal chat, or does anything usually happen behind the scenes?

First Preply trial — what am I actually supposed to do?

I’m completely new to Preply and somehow I’ve already got my first trial booked. It’s 50 minutes and I’m now slightly panicking lol.

I understand that the trial is partly about finding out her goals and seeing if we’re a good fit, but am I also expected to actually teach something during the 50 minutes?

Do you normally:

  • spend some time discussing goals?
  • do conversation practice?
  • correct mistakes / teach vocabulary?
  • have an actual mini-lesson prepared?
  • use slides/materials, or just go conversational?

Any advice from experienced Preply tutors would be massively appreciated because 50 minutes suddenly feels like a VERY long time.

What’s a small thing that instantly makes you think ‘this person was raised properly’?

Not talking about anything major — just the little things people do that make you notice they have good manners.

Maybe it’s saying please and thank you, being kind to people who can’t do anything for them, holding a door open, cleaning up after themselves, or just being respectful.

What’s a small thing someone has done that made you think “they were definitely brought up well”?

What do you think has had the biggest impact on police morale?

I’m curious what serving and former officers think has affected morale the most in recent years.

Is it things like workload, staffing levels, public perception, pay, changes in policing culture, increased scrutiny, lack of resources, or something else entirely?

Interested to hear what people in the job think has made the biggest difference day-to-day.

Zidane finally getting the France job — is this the perfect timing? 🇫🇷

Feels like this was the job Zidane had been waiting for all along. He turned down everything else because this was the one he wanted.

Now the pressure starts though. Being Zidane the player was one thing, but being Zidane the manager of France comes with ridiculous expectations. With the squad France have, anything less than competing for trophies will probably be seen as failure.

Interested to see how he does. Does he continue France’s dominance, or will the pressure of managing his country be a completely different challenge?

Police officers: How much explanation should suspects receive about decisions?

I’m trying to understand what good practice looks like during investigations.

If an officer decides that a caution is the appropriate outcome, and the suspect asks why this outcome has been chosen instead of another option, how much explanation would normally be expected?

Would it be considered sufficient to say something like “I believe this is the right way to proceed”, or would officers usually explain the reasoning behind the decision and why other possible outcomes were not considered suitable?

I’m not asking for a judgement on a specific case — I’m interested in understanding what officers are trained to do and what good communication looks like from an officer’s perspective.

Amending a complaint

Hi all, I filed a complaint against GMP via completing an online form, but realised there was further information i forgot to add after I submitted. Is there any way to amend the complaint or add this additional info on? Thanks
