I've decided to start contributing to open source, mainly to improve my development skills, learn how large production codebases are structured, and become a better software engineer.
I already have a good understanding of Git and GitHub, but I'm a complete beginner when it comes to open source contributions.
My main interests are:
\- Full-stack development (Node.js, React, Express)
\- Backend development
\- AI/ML projects
My goals are:
\- Learn how real-world projects are built and maintained.
\- Understand how experienced developers write and organize code.
\- Make meaningful contributions instead of just fixing typos.
\- Build experience that will help me land a good software engineering job.
I'm a bit confused about where to start.
\- How do you find beginner-friendly repositories that are actually active?
\- Should I focus on one project or contribute to multiple projects?
\- Is it better to start with documentation/bug fixes, or should I try implementing features if I can understand the codebase?
\- Are there any AI/ML or Node.js + React repositories that you'd recommend for beginners?
I'd really appreciate any advice, resources, or repository suggestions from people who have been through this journey.

We wanted to know how Chennai is for people coming from North or West India. How difficult is it to adjust in terms of language, food, and daily life?
Also, any suggestions on:
- Finding PGs/flats near the Cognizant office
- Approximate accommodation cost
- Food options (especially North Indian)
- Local transport and any tips for newcomers

I recently completed my internship at Cognizant, and someone in my intern group shared a message with one link claiming we can check our probable full-time joining location before receiving the official offer letter.
The steps they shared are:
Click Forgot Password on the Superset login page.
Enter your Superset registered email in both the username and email fields.
Receive the email, copy the access code, click the password reset link in the same email, and set a new password.
Log in and go to My Jobs.
They claim that:
- The location shown there is likely the location you'll receive for your full-time joining.
- If two job entries appear, there's a good chance you'll receive your Offer Letter (OL) in the next few days.
This message has been forwarded across several intern groups, so I'm not sure whether it's actually based on Cognizant's internal process or just a rumor.
Has anyone who joined Cognizant recently tried this? Was the location shown there actually the same as your final joining location? And did seeing two entries really mean the offer letter was about to be released?
I'd appreciate hearing from people who have gone through the recent onboarding process. Thanks!

I've heard it's very difficult to get the first client because of the competition. For those who started from zero recently:

How long did it take?
If not, what worked better instead (cold outreach, LinkedIn, local businesses, etc.)?

I wanted to know which locations are most likely for full-time deployment after training.
Has anyone from the GCP domain recently received their posting location?

I have a question for Cognizant FTE employees.
Does Cognizant provide opportunities to pursue cloud certifications like AWS, Azure, or GCP? Also, does the company reimburse or sponsor the certification exam fees, or do employees have to pay for them on their own?
