What’s the best dumbbell set if you’re building a home gym slowly?

I’m trying to put together a small home gym, and dumbbells are probably the first thing I should stop putting off. Right now I just have a random pair that’s too light for half my workouts and somehow still always in the way.

I mostly do basic stuff at home like rows, presses, curls, goblet squats, lunges, and shoulder work. I don’t need a full commercial setup, but I also don’t want cheap dumbbells that feel awkward, smell weird, or start falling apart after a few months.

I’m torn between buying a fixed dumbbell set over time or just getting adjustable ones and saving the space. Fixed ones seem nicer to use, but adjustables make more sense if you don’t have much room.

For anyone who built a home gym, what dumbbell set did you go with? Would you choose the same setup again, or do you wish you went fixed/adjustable from the start?

What are the best workout gloves that don’t feel bulky or annoying?

I’ve been lifting more consistently lately and my hands are starting to hate me. I know some people say gloves are unnecessary, but I’m not trying to tear up my palms every week just to prove a point.

I mostly do dumbbell work, cable machines, rows, pull movements, and some basic barbell stuff. I don’t need anything crazy, just something with decent grip, not too much padding, and enough wrist support that it actually feels useful.

I’ve tried cheap gloves before and they either stretched out, smelled awful, or made it harder to feel the weights properly.

For anyone who uses workout gloves, which ones have held up well? Anything you’d avoid?

What reading lamp would you actually recommend?

I’ve been reading more at night lately and realized my current lamp is terrible. It’s either too harsh, too dim, or somehow pointed exactly where I don’t need it.

I’m trying to find something good for a bedside table or desk. Mostly want warm light, adjustable brightness, and something that doesn’t make my eyes feel tired after 20 minutes. Bonus if it doesn’t look ugly sitting out all the time.

For anyone who reads a lot at night, what lamp are you using? Would you buy it again?

What's the best blender for smoothies? Tired of chunky frozen fruit

I've finally decided to replace my old blender because every smoothie turns into a workout. It struggles with frozen fruit, leaves random chunks of ice, and sometimes even overheats if I make two drinks back to back.

I mostly make fruit smoothies, protein shakes, and occasionally throw in spinach, oats, or peanut butter. I don't really care about making soup or nut butter. I just want something that can make consistently smooth drinks without sounding like it's about to launch into space.

I'm willing to spend a bit more if it means the blender will last for years, but I also don't want to overpay if a mid-range model does the job just as well.

For those of you who make smoothies regularly, which blender has been the best investment? Any models that have held up for years without losing power?

What’s the best eSIM for Greece? Need something reliable outside Athens too

I’m planning a trip to Greece soon and trying to sort out data before I land because I really don’t want to deal with finding a SIM shop at the airport.

Trip will probably be split between Athens and a couple islands (still deciding, maybe Santorini, Crete, Naxos, or Paros), so I care more about reliability than just getting the absolute cheapest option.

Main use will be:

  • maps and public transport
  • browsing and messaging
  • uploading photos/videos
  • restaurant bookings
  • occasional hotspot if needed

I’ve seen people recommend both local data and travel eSIMs but reviews seem all over the place, especially once you leave Athens.

For people who’ve been recently, what ended up working best for you in Greece? Any issues with speed, coverage on islands, activation, or data limits?

Best eSIM for Japan? First time visiting and confused by the options!

I’m planning a Japan trip and I’m trying to figure out the easiest data option before I land. I don’t really want to mess with airport counters, pocket WiFi, or swapping SIM cards after a long flight, so I’m leaning toward an eSIM.

I’ll mostly need it for Google Maps, translation, train routes, messaging, reservations, browsing, and maybe a bit of hotspot if needed. I’ll probably be in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, and maybe a few smaller places or day trips, so coverage outside the main cities matters too.

For anyone who used an eSIM in Japan, which one worked smoothly for you? Was setup easy, and did the data stay reliable on trains and outside the big tourist areas?

Also wondering if unlimited data is actually worth it there, or if a normal 10–20GB plan is enough for around 1–2 weeks.

What tablet worked best for notes, PDFs, and lasses?

I’m thinking about getting a tablet for studying and I’m realizing there are way more options than I expected. Some people say tablets completely replaced their laptop for notes and classes, while others say they ended up going back to a normal computer.

Main things I care about are note taking, PDFs, battery life, multitasking, watching lectures, and something that doesn’t feel slow after a year. A keyboard option would be nice but not essential.

For students who actually use their tablet every day, what ended up being worth it? Also curious whether spending more made a noticeable difference or if the mid-range options are already good enough.

What’s your favorite place to visit in South Korea that actually lived up to the hype?

I’m planning a South Korea trip and I keep changing my itinerary because every place seems to have people saying it was their favorite.

At first I thought I’d mostly stay in Seoul and maybe do Busan, but now I keep seeing people talk about Jeju, Gyeongju, Sokcho, Jeonju, and random places I hadn’t even considered.

I’m more into good food, walkable areas, scenery, local neighborhoods, nice cafés, day trips, views, and places that feel memorable instead of trying to rush through landmarks.

If you’ve been to South Korea and had to pick only a few places that really stayed with you after the trip, what would they be and what made them worth it?
