How would an emergency cover for a role that one actor doesn't cover work?

Just as the title asks: how exactly does an emergency cover work if an understudy goes on for a role they haven't covered with very little to no rehearsal time? I'm asking this because tonight at Paddington, Rose Mary O’Reilly is currently making her emergency Millicent Clyde debut. O'Reilly is usually a swing and an understudy for Judy Brown and Millicent Clyde is a role she doesn't cover. So I'm curious to know how this would be pulled off effortlessly with a very limited rehearsal time.

I was going to see Jesus Christ Superstar in London for my birthday, but I have upset my Mother to the point she said she doesn't want to take me. What can I do instead because I promised myself I would watch Jesus Christ Superstar in my birthday.

  • Listen to the concept album or any cast recording, substituting the track for Gethsemane track with Sam Ryder’s cover, on Spotify. Picking the album up from The Arrest onward.
  • Watch the 1973 movie version, playing Sam Ryder’s Gethsemane over the end credits.
  • Watch the 2000 direct to home video version, playing Sam Ryder’s Gethsemane over Glen Carter’s rendition.
  • Watch a recording of the musical on YouTube, pausing the video after The Last Supper and watching Sam Ryder’s BNOM’s performance of Gethsemane and then returning to the recording to watch the rest beginning from The Arrest through to the end.

Les Misérables: New Lyric Change In One Day More

Just recently, the Arena Spectacular cast just performed "One Day More" on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, and they have appeared to swap out Marius's lyric at the start with Fantine sing a few lyrics from "I Dreamed A Dream". I must admit it is quite an interesting change to say the least. Yet I have to ask, is this a new implemented change in the show or just a change for this promotional event?

Wicked Tickets Sales Hit 22-Year Low As Broadway Faces It's Biggest Slump In Decades

It's grim at the Broadway box office right now.

Wicked recorded its lowest-grossing eight-performance week since 2004, highlighting what many are calling one of the toughest periods the industry has faced in decades.

The disappointing figures weren't limited to one show.

Every production on Broadway saw its box office fall last week, with several struggling to fill even 70% of their seats, even as average ticket prices dropped as low as $67.

Unlike past slumps that followed the likes of 9/11, the financial crisis and the pandemic, the current slowdown is one of the most unusual because it isn't tied to a single major catastrophe.

Industry observers believe a combination of factors could be behind the slump, including reduced international tourism, changing audience habits since the pandemic, economic uncertainty, holiday travel and major sporting events.

Despite the difficult trading conditions, many producers are continuing to keep their shows open in the hope that audiences return later this year.

For now, all eyes are on Broadway to see whether the autumn season can bring the industry's fortunes back around.

Which shows would be great for a Camp Broadway Production of a musical?

We all know MTI licenses shows for school, community, regional theatres, etc. These include the full shows, kids versions for Elementary schoolers, Junior versions for middle schoolers, camp Broadway, as well as other types of shows. But just recently they started to bring out specialized versions of shows for school summer camps to perform. They’re about 25-30 minutes in length.

But with it being a new program there’s a limited amount of shows available right now but I hope they'll bring out new ones.

What shows do you think they should add for the Camp Broadway editions? I think any Disney musical might be a great option to add. What do you think?

What on earth is going on with Six?

Khaila departs next month with no replacement announced as of yet. Same with Kristin. There also hasn't been any official announcement of another extension to at least August 2027. So what's going on with Six?

The Lion King KIDS Revision

I just went on the MTI Page for The Lion King KIDS and I realized that the first song of the show "One By One" has been replaced with "They Live in You" and that the first line "RAFIKI 1 Welcome to our village!" has been removed. Does anyone know why this revision has been made? I don't see this to be racists or culturally offensive in any way or form. So why the change?
