Why did Juke even break up with Issha? I’m confused.

It seemed so forced and unnecessary🫤. (Btw I’ll always root for Juke finding happiness since she’s the only openly queer character in Raising Kanan)

Theory: Raq might end up in a Mental Hospital

Hear me out: Raq could be alive in a mental facility post-Raising Kanan.

In Raising Kanan, the writers have been willing to explore just how much damage the streets can do to your psyche. Lou’s stay in a rehab facility explored just how much trauma he’d been holding onto, especially at the hands of his sister. They have a whole dialogue about how badly Raq’s decisions affected him and what drove him to become an alcoholic in the first place.

But Raq doesn’t accept any of that.

For her, the bodies that you catch and the lives that you ruin are just collateral damage in your pursuit of financial security from the streets. In her eyes you gotta break eggs to make an omelet. But I don’t buy that Raq is unaffected by this. In my view, Raq is just trying to bury her feelings under the success that she’s had in running her own organization. But she hasn’t really thought about something: what happens when the success stops? What happens when your organization falls apart?

What happens when you CAN’T REBUILD?

The combination of Kanan killing Lou, Marvin’s eventual incarceration or death, and collapse of the Thomas Drug Family AKA her means of making money, may all serve as a catalyst to a mental break somewhere down the line. After being thwarted in her efforts to rebuild what she once had, Raq won’t be able to take it anymore.

She won’t have any family.

No means to make money.

And her son is her enemy in the streets.

When Kanan mentions visiting Raq in the future, he might be visiting a mental facility, not the cemetery or the jailhouse. Raq might collapse under the pressure of the streets just like Lou did.

They got Kanan looking like a fiesty puppy

SPOILERS!

Kanan’s character development this season is exposing just how green he is.

Kanan is being manipulated and pushed around so much and he strangely thinks that he’s ahead of the curve or that he’s controlling events. Being taken in by Snaps and Pop has him gassed up and oblivious to the fact that their interest in him is limited to pushing his mother out of the game and they use his resentment of her as fuel for a fire. They flatter him and make it seem like he’s this hood genius but he doesn’t realize that they could give a fuck about that.

Secondly, Kanan got thrown completely off balance by the fact that Unique correctly reduced that one of the Thomas’ had killed Lou. As a matter of fact, Unique told Kanan to his face that he knew that Kanan killed Lou. Kanan is so naive that he didn’t even realize that his measured tolerance of Unique in their drug enterprise was suspicious. Under normal circumstances, if Kanan had even suspected that Unique had dropped Lou, Kanan should have been trying to put belt to ass on sight. That would have been the only appropriate response. Kanan didn’t realize how much his conduct could betray him.

Btw, Unique is one smart cat.

Kanan is a spunky puppy that’s gonna piss on the wrong leg.

Marvin’s Future Crashout

Listening to Marvin tell Shirley that they were going to buy her out was a particularly bitter pill for him to swallow. Marvin and Raq knew how much Lou wanted to keep drugs away from his spot and he was choked up when Shirley gently threw that in his face.

Marvin is gonna crash out badly because not only did Kanan kill his brother, but Raq has been gassing him up and letting him believe that Unique killed Lou. And she tore down her baby brother’s legacy in the process. And she got him dropping bodies over it.

This is going to be a lot when he finds out.

How plausible is it for Kanan to be Tariq’s biological father?

This could explain why he took such a strong interest in Tariq aside from the fact that he related to Tariq resenting a parent.

This is ridiculous

How long are taxpayers going to keep subsidizing the private education of children from affluent families who could just afford to pay their kid’s tuition out of pocket. Public infrastructure, public transportation, and better public schools would all benefit more from this $1 billion.

Raising Kanan Season 5 Ep.1. There’s something wrong with this boy. Spoilers

#SPOILER ALERT

Alright I watched the whole first episode and I wanted to share my thoughts. My conclusion is that there is something seriously wrong with Kanan.

I know that we all recognize that Kanan is spoiled, but there’s something that runs deeper with him that this whole incident highlights. Kanan killed his uncle on accident, as he was about to murder his own mother mind you, and he couldn’t show an ounce of remorse. From the moment Raq let him walk away from killing Lou he showed no emotion, no reaction, and left her there to pick up the pieces and shield him from the wrath of his uncle and cousin who would have surely took Kanan up outta here if they found out.

Fast forward to after the funeral and his mother confronts him with the fact that he ain’t even address what happened. No sorry. No apology. No Thank You.

But what he did say:

‘Okay.’

‘You expecting me to say I give a fuck? I don’t.’

I don’t know if he recognized it or was just oblivious to it, but she was trying to hold onto the last shred of maternal affection, love, and sympathy that she could have for him, and he broke her heart by stomping on that. She kept telling him how she felt in the hope that there was still something left in Kanan that she could forgive or find redeemable.

This boy has zero concept of how much bullshit he’s put his mother through since he got in the game. From covering up his first murder, to repeatedly running interference for him in the streets, protecting you from a pedophile, and now having to wash her brother’s blood off of the wall in her living room after her son shot him twice in the heart. His reaction:

‘Okay.’

I understand that Kanan has been through some stuff, but he’s not a hustler who was forced into the game through the fucked up game of life. He chose to get involved in it even after his mother tried keeping him away from it and told him that there would be consequences for it. He was so thirsty to get in the game and now he’s mad at her for the consequences he chose to accept.

The fact that he can’t empathize with anyone is not normal, and maybe I’m just missing it or the writers have been setting it up this whole time, but Kanan is like a psychopath or sociopath. He has no ability to see past his own bullshit and has limited capacity to feel for people that he hurts or appreciate what somebody is doing for him.

Idk man, this nigga is something else🫩.

Vote for Amy Acton if you want to protect public schools.

Ohio, you need to vote for Amy Acton in November. Republicans in the Ohio state house applied for a federal waiver request for the Every Students Suceeds Act. If granted, the waiver would allow the state to seize failing public schools and turn them into charter schools or hand them over to private operators. We already said no to this in Senate Bill 1227, and they’re trying to circumvent the will of Ohioans.

It’s ironic that a brown, first generation American running for Governor of Ohio is touting white supremacist talking points about Black people.

Talk about alienating a voting block.

Black Gay Graphic Novels?

I recently started reading Les Normaux after seeing it in the library and I loved it. I was wondering if anybody knew about any similar graphic novels featuring black queer characters. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Have There Been Any Recent Updates on Planet 9?

The last that I heard in 2025, they had narrowed the search down to a small window within our night sky. Has the search team been giving anymore updates since then?
