Planning my setup before I buy more gear

I recently got my first 3D printer (X2D) and I’m already planning ahead before I start adding more to the setup.

I’m thinking about printing a riser, and eventually an AMS HT for the second filament input alongside my AMS 2 Pro.

I’m a bit torn on how to lay it out. My options at the moment are:
- Keep the AMS 2 Pro and AMS HT split so they overhang evenly on each side of the printer for a more symmetrical look.
- Keep the AMS 2 Pro on top and have the AMS HT hanging off the left side feeding the right auxiliary nozzle.

The printer lives in my home office, so I’m trying to balance functionality with keeping everything looking clean and organised.

Edit: I only plan on printing PLA and PETG for the most part, with the general consensus that this is safe?

Need some advice on refining my space

Just moved into a new place, so I’m finally starting to put together a proper workspace. Please ignore the boxes between the desk and display cabinet, they’ll be gone soon.

I’m pretty happy with the overall direction, but I’m struggling to refine it into a cleaner, more polished setup.
A few things I’m trying to work out:
- Speaker placement (angled on the desk vs raised on a desk shelf?)
- Whether a desk shelf would help clean things up and give me somewhere to tuck away the keyboard and mouse.
- The best way to use my MacBook Pro, gaming laptop, monitor, and iPad without making the desk feel cluttered.
- What to do with the empty walls and corner so the room feels a bit more finished.

It’s a bit of an odd space since it’s also our spare bedroom, and I wanted to keep my display cabinet in here too.

I’d love any suggestions or ideas to make it feel a bit more refined and cohesive.

Am I being too picky on my first prints?

These are my first two prints on my new Bambu printer (printed straight from MakerWorld with default settings).
Beige: Bambu filament
Green: Filaform filament

Overall I’m really happy, but I noticed that some layers almost look like they aren’t fully connecting to the walls in places (especially around the holes and edges). There’s also a small gap on the green print.

I want to make sure that before I start printing larger projects, I wanted to check if this is normal or if it suggests I need to calibrate something. I set everything up according to the instructions and didn’t change any print settings.

Am I just being overly picky, or is there something here worth investigating? So far, this is way too fun, especially since I was obsessed with 3D printing 13 years ago, this being my first!!

Delivery company insurer accepted repair quote, but can I request a cash settlement instead?

Earlier this year we had a large appliance delivered and the delivery drivers damaged our hardwood floors and hallway walls while bringing it in.

After months of chasing the transport company, they’ve finally come back saying their insurer has accepted only the repairs quote (~$3k). The issue is the repairman also advised the works would require us to move out for about a week while repairs are completed.

At this point, after how long it’s taken, we’d honestly rather negotiate a reasonable cash payout directly with the insurer and just live with the cosmetic damage rather than deal with the disruption of repairs, moving furniture, temporary accommodation, pets etc.

The company handling it so far seems focused only on paying the repair invoice itself and I don’t think the insurer has been made aware of the broader situation.

Do we have any right to request a cash settlement instead of proceeding with repairs? And is it reasonable to try and deal directly with the insurer at this stage given how long this has dragged on?
