Clarification regarding the Edicts in terms of inheritance?

This is something that's been bugging me for a while but in the 'Articles of Inheritance' where it says: “...within the Nations party to this Agreement, all Mageborn are hereby stripped of their noble titles, barred from any rank, and must relinquish any land ownership claims.

Its that last part that I've been wondering about regarding land ownership but more so how it affects property ownership. So does this mean that mages can own property but not land? Or is that also something they can't own?

Could they buy property but couldn't own the land and have to pay taxes on it? Or if a relative(wealthy but not noble) died and left an estate to them in the will could they not inherit it if it has land ownership claims attached to it?

What happens if the Amethyst Academy wins?

I know that in the book they do their whole super shield around Drakkenheim and turn the place into a personal quarry for mining Delerium, but how does this impact the wider world of the Continent?

For the sake of this discussion, let's say that the Queen's Men, Falling Fire and Silver Order have all been destroyed/routed from the city that wouldn't impede the Academy's monopoly over delerium. The Hooded Lanterns have been appeased with the discovery of a new monarch(one that is conveniently in agreement with the Academy) and convinced to just move the seat of power to some other city.

What do you all think happens to the Continent after the Silver Order is routed from Drakkenheim with their knight captain dead, the Academy claiming sole ownership over the city as their personal quarry for delerium?

Personally? I think the Academy taking over Drakkenheim would be the beginning to a continental war between the Academy and the Sacred Flame. The Academy's monopoly over delerium allows them to forge powerful weapons and gain the favor of the more powerful members of nobility among Westemar and Caspia who begin turning to the side of the Academy and away from the flame.

The Divine Matriarch recognizing the growing influence of the Academy, dispatches a large portion of the Silver Order to Westemar a year after the first failed expedition but they end up getting blocked by nobles loyal to the academy and this kicks off the Continental War between the Academy and the Sacred Flame, where it very quickly becomes war crimey as the Academy uses delerium bombs to wipe out entire regiments and sections of cities in Elyria and using delerium to create powerful weapons of war.

That's just my own thoughts on what would happen, what do you all think?

Do you set a limit for magic items? How many should each player have at most to fit within the setting?

I remember hearing once that the world of Drakkenheim is relatively 'mundane' for the most part, in the sense that spellcasters and the like only really make-up a very small percentage of the population on the continent, with the Academy and Sacred Flame only having a couple thousand members each who can actually cast spell with very few who can cast high-level spells with the player characters obviously as exceptions.

This got me wondering if perhaps the same should be applied to magic items and if they should feel like they are in limited numbers, at least on the frontier in Drakkenheim to better fit within the setting. Thoughts?

Would Airships exist in the world of Drakkenheim? If so, would they be a relic of the Arcane Empire or a new kind of invention?

This was something I have been wondering about for a while, like there's no mention of airships existing in the world of Drakkenheim in any of the nations if I'm remembering right. So this makes me wonder if airships existed as part of the arcane empire before they were all lost to time? Or perhaps the Amethyst academy created a new type of airship using delirium as a base.

More importantly though, how would the invention/appearance of an airship be perceived by the other factions of Drakkenheim? Silver Order, Hooded Lanterns, Amethyst academy, etc?

What do you think Forrest was kicked down from Chicago to Gallow's Creek for?

I was really hoping this would eventually come up in the game and I was kinda disappointed when nothing was really explained for why he was sent to Gallow's Creek. I mean, he went from a big time Chicago radio host to a small town like Gallow's Creek so it had be pretty serious.

Could the Flesh to Stone spell possibly protect/preserve someone from the Haze?

I got to thinking if it was possible for somebody, maybe an important NPC to use the spell in order to protect themselves from the Haze. The petrified condition states that a " creature is immune to poison and disease, although a poison or disease already in its system is suspended, not neutralized"

So I was wondering if it was possible to be used like that as a sort of last-defense mechanism protection against the Haze, thoughts on this?

What would an Eilistraee-worshipping drow city on the surface export?

Okay so I made a post a couple months back asking what would an Eilistraee-worshipping drow city on the surface would be like and I got some good response, but that made me wonder what the city would even specialize in selling that might shape the culture there. I had the idea that the area they were in was rich in precious metals like gold, silver, copper and the like but someone commented that drow weren't really miners so that got me thinking what else they could export.

How powerful should a single or several Nether Scroll make a wizard if they can study it?

So I was asking in a previous posts about what kind of nifty research, magic items, lost tech and the like would be found within a Netheril Vault and a few suggested the Nether Scrolls that I hadn't heard of before which sounded pretty interesting. The five chapters each sounded unique in their own way.

For reference;

>The five chapters of the Nether Scrolls were:

Arcanus Fundare

The chapter "Foundations of Magic" was about fundamental magic. It gave the reader an instant boost to their spells' effectiveness and magical skill matching and/or surpassing that of true masters, but no additional base magical power.

Magicus Creare

The chapter "Spells of Creation" was about magic item creation. Reading it provided the user with the ability to create new magic items and the ability to create any magic item with less expenditure of one's essence.

Maior Creare

The chapter "Major Creation" dealt also with the creation of magic items but with the focus on constructs. It made the reader not only understand how to create constructs but also how to reliably create them at top quality without any fluctuation.

Planus Mechanus

The chapter "Studies of the Planes" dealt with the planes and allowed the reader to use plane shift and not suffer any negative effects from other planes' environments. One such Nether Scroll specifically concerned the Abyss.

Ars Factum

The chapter "Of the Creation of Artifacts" Its contents were unknown, though naturally it was suspected to deal with making artifacts. This chapter's scrolls required some kind of key to be read, but it was never discovered.

But this made me wonder how powerful a wizard or spellcaster in general could become if they managed to obtain even a single or several scrolls. I know there are listed benefits for each of the chapters but those are more for what happens if you somehow manage to collect all ten of a single chapter and read through all of them.

What I'm curious about is what could a wizard gain and how powerful could they become from a single nether scroll? Would each scroll of a chapter be unique in its own way or would it have some consistency to it? Thoughts on this?

What sort of devices, research notes, lost technology, and magic items could be found in a Netherese Vault?

Okay, so I'm planning on running a quest where the party gets the job to delve into a Netherese Vault/Bunker that was recently been discovered. The Vault was originally a lab belonging to a group of prominent and wealthy citizens for research and storage of archives of research notes and other devices.

Any ideas for what sort of research, devices, technology and magic items would be found in it?

How would the characters react if Goblin Slayer died at the battle of the Farm?

Let's imagine a scenario where Goblin Slayer died at the farm from internal injuries/blood loss after he finished off the Goblin Lord and Priestess was too tapped out of magic to heal him. How do you think each of the characters would react to this news?

How would Priestess, Dwarf Shaman, Lizard Priest, Cow Girl, HEA, Guild Girl, and Sword Maiden react? Thoughts?

Obviously torture is off-the table since they are a good-aligned faction, but how would they go about interrogating captured enemies? Be they Zhentarim, Red Wizards or from some member of an evil deity?

How large should a royal/noble's standing army be?

So I'm currently writing up a political war campaign plot where a kingdom, let's call it Duskfall(placeholder), is on the cusp of civil war. There have been increasing tensions between the royal family and their respective rivals over ownership claims to the Throne. This eventually boils over into full-blown civil war between the royal family and their allies against the rival dukes and nobles who are fighting for dominance over the nation.

The question I am struggling with is how large should a royal/noble's standing army be? I'm following the basic noble hierarchy of: Royalty, Duke/Duchess, Marquess/Marquise, Count/Countess, Viscount/Viscountess, Baron/Baroness.

How do the other guerilla groups view each other?

We don't really get a whole lot of interaction between the other groups and how they view each other, outside of the final battle where Dani brings them all together to kill Castillo.

Which makes me wonder how they view each other and if they can even work together? Thoughts?

What happens to Yara if Dani takes the secret ending?

Okay, so we know that in the Secret Ending if Dani chooses to just leave Yara behind, they hear a news broadcast that FND forces have killed Clara but...really what happens to Yara long-term? Castillo is still sick and doesn't really have long to live and Diego is way too young to actually lead a nation so it raises an interesting question of what happens to Yara if Dani chooses not to get involved.

What do you all think? Would Maria swoop in to seize power while keeping Diego safe? Would any of the other guerilla groups be able to stand a chance against the regime? Thoughts on this?

Should the Edicts of Lumen be abolished?

The Edicts of Lumen are one of the most defining traits about the world of Drakkenheim, it sets the precedent that mages can't hold any positions of power or wield any sort of political influence because of the history of the Sorcerer Kings, but this has led to some obvious tension between the Church of the Sacred Flame and Amethyst Academy.

So this makes me raise the question of should the edicts of Lumen be abolished or at least revised in a certain way? What should replace it? Is it unfair to bar spellcasters from holding noble positions considering the Church's blatant hypocrisy of having the Divine Matriarch basically call the shots in Elyria?

Logically, how big should the Legion presence at the Fort be?

Okay, I asked a similar question not too long ago about how big the garrison at Nelson should logically be, and got some really good answers. Now I'm curious about how large of a garrison there should be at the Fort, Caesar's main stronghold in the game. There should like, at least like a thousand right? Maybe more than that?

Mainly asking because I want to put into perspective how crazy lore-wise the Courier has to be to walk into the Fort to kill Caesar and survive.

Logically, how large should the garrison at Nelson be?

Okay, so I know that in game its just like 12-20 guys and the 'Battle of Nelson' was just 16 Legionnaires against like 32 NCR troopers, but logically how big should the garrison at Nelson be after the Legion moved in? I imagine Caesar would want to post a lot more troops in one of the legions few bases in the Mojave besides Cottonwood Cove and there has to be more than like 20 guys.

What melee weapons do you think would pair well with the following characters?

I was thinking earlier on what sort of melee weapons would fit the cast and that got me wondering. While I know that most of their abilities are strong enough that they don't really need a melee weapon, I do wonder what sort of weapons would augment their fighting ability, if they needed it or they got dampened. Like knives, batons, escrima sticks, katana, etc.

  • John
  • Sera
  • Isen
  • Arlo
  • Remi
  • Elaine
  • Cecile

Any thoughts on this? I was going to include Blyke as well, but I figure his ability truly works best at range and if he's in melee range, than that's already a problem regardless.

How should following characters have developed if they were more involved with the plot?

Okay, I don't think its unfair to say that outside of the main cast, the other characters don't really get a lot of attention or a chance to develop properly in the story. So my question here is how should the following characters have developed if they were more involved or at least got more screentime?

  • Evie
  • Zeke
  • Elaine
  • Terrence
  • Cecile

( Yes, I'm throwing Terrence in since I think he should have lived and he had a lot of wasted potential as a character)

How would the characters do if they were in a zombie apocalypse and who would survive?

Let's imagine that the cast are on an island resort(think Dead Island) and suddenly the zombie virus happened that started infecting the entire island and turned most of the people into zombies. The zombies can still use their abilities but somewhat erratically and not consistently at all.

The group's are split up around the area and the objective is to escape the island. The group is divided up as is:

  • Seraphina and Elaine are holed up in the resort with zombies swarming the building. Seraphina's ability hasn't been fully restored so her ability usage isn't consistent and not permanent.
  • Blyke and Remi are together in the town, but are stuck/slowed down protecting a small group of survivors.
  • John is on the outskirts of town on his own but isn't too far from Isen.
  • Arlo is on his own in the center of town where the largest concentration of zombies are.

So how do you think this plays out? Who would survive and who has a chance of dying?
