Why don’t Marvel or DC utilize the Musou Genre?

Hello,
As we know, Marvel is doing quite well in the video game sphere, with Tokon and Rivals, and DC had released the Lego Batman video game, which are good for both Marvel and DC, however, I’m just wondering why Marvel or DC has not done a video game in the format of a Musou game?

I reckon that the quantity of the roster is not an issue, because One Piece Musou game has tons of characters, and I reckon that the combat is easy to figure out, Musou genre is not known for its “depth”, so how comes Marvel or DC has not utilized this genre for their video game catalogues?

I think Ana Noguiera will have a better time with Teen Titans and Wonder Woman

Hello,

I watched the movie "Supergirl" last Sunday and I had a pleasant viewing, despite my small disappointment of the changes from the comic book which have me rated the movie 8/10 as a standalone project and a 6/10 as a direct adaptation (I still have appreciations to lots of changes and additions). Looking back, I think the writer of "Supergirl" Ana Nogueira will have a much better time writing "Teen Titans" and "Wonder Woman" because:

  1. The Creative Freedom: with "Supergirl" being a direct adaptation of "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow", Ana had to condense 8 chapters of space adventures of Kara and Ruthye into a movie of just 2 hour-ish (which is somewhat both unsatisfying and yet understandable), however, with the two upcoming projects, Ana definitely has more creative freedom since she doesn't have the weight of being a singular comic book adaptation. Personally I have a list of what changes and additions from/to the comic book that I like from Ana's script for "Supergirl" so I think her working with other directors and would benefit more compared to "Supergirl".

  2. Learning Experience: Now that "Supergirl" is out, despite being an good not great movie, the movie officially flops, and Ana and James Gunn with Peter Safran and other writers can work out what works and what don't from learning this movie and its reception.

  3. Second Chances: I do think that it would be extremely harsh to immediately fire Ana from "Teen Titans" and "Wonder Woman", and I think that she should be given another chance for her to prove her merits with either one or two projects.

Now I know that the movie doesn't work well with people who have their adornment for the comic book, and I fully understand it, as I am one who was intriguingly hyped for the movie when the James Gunn DCU announcement video, on the other hands, I did have a pretty good time watching the movie and I appreciate some changes and additions, not all of them, but some, and I think that Ana Nogueira should continue working with DC Studios and use this movie as a lesson, a stepping stone so that she can work out "Teen Titans" and "Wonder Woman"

“Supergirl” being divisive doesn’t mean DCU will be dead or heavily impacted

I will be seeing “Supergirl” on this Sunday, and I’ve been seeing mixed reactions to the movie which is understandable since i reckon it will objectively not be like the best of the best of the crops in the comic book media, however, there are some extreme reactions that I saw that are quite ridiculous.

2026 is on its half, and DCU is one over three projects for the year, and they just announced bunch of animated projects for the next years, “Man of Tomorrow” and “The Batman Part II” are filming, scripts and pitches are being written, conclusively one movie being divisive will not impact what are currently being in production.
* to clarify: I’m saying the state of DC Studios generally, of course “The Batman Part II” is not DCU and neither are majority of the upcoming animated projects

If you think the movie is bad, understandably you will have a more worrying sentiment for the next projects, and that’s fine! If you think the movie is good, then good for you! All I’m saying is DCU is still moving on, and Supergirl the character will appear in other projects.

I’m not here to argue whether you should like or dislike the movie, I’m not here to argue about your liking or disliking to James Gunn or DCU in general, I’m stating that as consumers there are DC projects being produced right now under DC Studios so don’t use this post to spark any arguments or reactions, this is a chill post.

Discussion: If The Threat is on a Global/Planet/Universe Scale, having multiple Heroes in one Media (Film/TV Show) is Sensible

With “Man of Tomorrow” coming out in 2027 and the movie having Brainiac as the Antagonist/Villain, I feel like James Gunn writing in multiple heroes other than Superman is quite appropriate and sensible.

The villain Brainiac is known for his large armada of Robots and Machines used to capture the residents and the planets, so with “Man of Tomorrow”, personally it makes sense on why there are multiple heroes in the film, since why wouldn’t you want to watch heroes defending their cities and people.

It is also well known from the comics that Brainiac is a quite personal enemy to Superman, due to the Villain’s works on Kal El’s long lost planet, so it is also completely understandable that people wants a singular movie of solely Superman versus Brainiac. However, there are some Villains whose villainy spread across the planet/universe that sometimes more heroes does make sense (examples: Darkseid, Mongul, General Zod, Trigon, …).

This is why I am alright with “Batman v Superman” as it containing quite a good amount of heroes, either direct roles or indirect (Cyborg, Aquaman, Flash), and that’s why I’m also ok with “Man of Tomorrow” and to an extent “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” and any comic book medias that sometimes the narrative plus the scales of the main Antagonist do demand a roster of heroes working with each other.
