My brand new 2026 Ecoboost

I drove a 2014 BMW 428i before getting this car and so far i have no complaints. This thing pushes for a 4 banger and great commuter car imo. It’s no 5.0 but to me it’s just enough power to have a little fun and it’s something to get me around, I’ve gotten a few compliments from strangers as well. It’s in Vapor Blue Metallic and packaged with the Bronze Appearance

AITA I (M29) bought a new car and GF (F27) resents me for it

For a bit of context we’ve been dating for 2.5 years and we’re both still in university. I just recently bought a brand new car and my girlfriend has been resenting me for it. She had told me that the car makes her uncomfortable because she had trauma with her ex friend who used to drive one (previous generation of the same car from 2015) . Mind you I’ve never even talked to her ex friend and i didn’t know my gf when she was friends with this person. That was the first problem. Then it shifted over to me not caring about her because I didn’t include her in this decision. I had told her that this was a decision that made sense to me financially ( i drove a shitter for a long time we’ve been together) this was the best value to car ratio. I explained to her that we don’t share finances and it was a decision that was best for me and I apologized that it made her uncomfortable but this was an entirely different car to the last generation that her ex friend had. Ever since I bought the car, it’s been back and forth about me not caring about her opinion and that every time she sits in it or sees it she thinks back to our huge fight and it breaks her heart every time. She does make a good point that I should’ve at least included her in the decision since we’ve been dating for 2.5 years and that i didn’t really have good communication when it came to buying the car. I didn’t mean to hide anything from her at all I just thought that she was already angry so I shouldn’t have put more gas into the fire. It’s been a week.
