Did anyone receive AMC’s new email they just sent out?

Bragging about how much money they made… More than ever? Look I am glad that AMC is doing well. I want movies to keep going in theaters but they keep raising our prices despite doing well.

Again, I wish they had different tiers.
According to their own statistics, their average A-lister only sees about 2 1/2 movies. So we pay for the other people that see upwards of 10-16 a month… more power to you… I really really wish that I could do that.

Sadly, it’s hard for me to even make two movies a month so it looks like I have to look at other options , which makes me sad because I know they don’t allow us to rejoin for another six months which I also think is unfair since I’ve been so loyal for so long.

I wish they had a bracket. I’ve just offered 2 to 3 movies a month. $20 versus the $30 I pay right now.

Documentaries

I think on one of the threads someone said there was a documentary called “the real Downton Abbey.”
About this time. Etc. but I googled it and the only thing that came up were a bunch of YouTube videos all with the same name all very short and all just about the characters is that what you were talking about? Or are there any good documentaries about this time period or the characters or even about servants, etc.? or any other shows from around this period that you guys recommend? I’m addicted.

Favorite characters? What is yours and why?

Truly unpopular opinion but besides the obvious violet and Tom. I think mine is truly Peanut find her such an interesting and compelling character. Oops That is a typo, but | just thought it was so funny. I left it. Apparently, I don't annunciate when I talk to text. Edith**

I feel like she was mean to Mary many times but she had a reason. Mary never really has a reason to be so mean. I think she knows she is prettier and more respected and liked than Edith. She doesn't really have any empathy for Edith whatsoever... Although they don't really have a lot of empathy for each other. I am still on season four so maybe it all wraps up nicely I hope their relationship heals.
I just think Edith is so interesting. I think she has a lot of depth and heart. I don't know what Mary would've done if she had gotten pregnant out of wedlock. I don't know if she would've kept the baby and I certainly don't think she would've fought for it so much.
These are just my opinions. Please feel free to disagree. I appreciate when people disagree with me. I watch things all of the time that I love and a friend of mine doesn't and I genuinely enjoy hearing their opinions and point of view. I am about to start season five today. I am so glad I stuck with it.
I also LOVE Mrs Hughes and Ms Baxter.

Conversation challenge

OK, you guys are ridiculously good at this so now I am deciding to change the quote challenge to conversations. I really wish I had done these as I was watching season 1-3 as there were so many good ones!
These are hard!!!

What two people had this conversation?

Is there any aspect of the present day you can accept without resistance?”

“I wouldn’t mind getting rid of my corset.”

2 “ I will let you know my answer when I have one.”

“ I shall wait with bated breath.”

3 “To fail at the first attempt does not mean that you won’t succeed later” (who said and to whom)

4 “What did she say?”

“How it happened and when it happened”

5” That will do him a lot of harm”

“What would you prefer that I invite the criminals to drop in and strip the house bare?”

6 “ I understand and I won’t press you but be aware nothing is over and nothing is done with.” (Who said it to whom?)

Guess these quotes part 3

If these are getting annoying, please just keep scrolling. These are all from season four. Some of them I post are the same person twice, but never more than twice. Let’s see if anyone can get it first try! They are not always easy.

“What a topsy Turvy world we live in”

“I think there is something foreign about high spirits at breakfast”

“Mess it up and it’s back to kindergarten”

“she is a good woman and while the phrase is enough to set one’s teeth on edge there are moments when her virtue demands admiration”

“If we don’t respect our past, we will find it harder to build our future.”

“It’s strange standing next to you here in silence.”

Guess these quotes part 2

Ok these are bit harder because you all got the last ones in less than 2 mins and between two guesses. All are from season 4 as that’s what I’m watching rn. I think no 5 is the hardest.

“ if I were to look for logic, I should not look for it in the English upper class.”

“ clean this mess up because I assume Mr. clever clogs won’t”

“I will have no swear words in here thank you very much unless I’m the one doing the swearing”

“I don’t care if you’re the high Cuckleorum you’re a footman tonight.”

“I suppose we’ll have to muddle through tomorrow as well”

“ I look like a fool. I talk like a fool. I am a fool.”

Can you guess who said these quotes?

I only have a few because I only started to do it in season three. There were so many good quotes the first two seasons, but I didn’t think to write them down. I don’t think they are very difficult. Curious if anyone can guess all 4 of them:

“So you’re against me too!?”

“Don’t be a spoil sport.”

“Un-easy lies the head that wears the crown.”

“I fall more in love with you every day that passes.”

If you want to take a guess at just number, your guesses 1-4 and I’ll reply who got it!

Just finished seasons 3…. So disappointed about this twist and then to read and find out that it was really about the actor….

So saddened to see Matthew’s death and to now find it was due to the actor wanting to leave the series. Maybe I’m bitter, but that is such an arrogant decision to me… To leave such an amazing series… Not that they would’ve necessarily kept him alive forever (though the writers have said they planned to keep him alive) but we could’ve had at least a season or two where he got the estate together… And we got to see their lives as parents. I understand writers make decisions, but to know that some of these decisions are so influenced by actors it’s hard to wrap my brain around… Also, it just seems like such a dream show to work on. I can’t imagine being in the position living that sort of fantastical life only to leave it. I wonder if he ever regrets it.

No one wants to watch more than 2-3 movies a week

Edit* I want to watch 2 to 3 movies a week… But who has the time! We are all trying to survive capitalism right now. I could only imagine that retirees or people living with their parents would have time for this especially those of us that live in big cities where rent is 3K to 8K a month.

AMC keeps raising its prices and then telling us “ oh but you will get to watch 4 movies a week”
Who has time for that? I think they know if they look at their numbers that the average person watches one to two movies a month even skipping some months… None of us want the prices to raise especially when we barely use it I think I’m going to cancel, especially with these new changes to Universal City walk being such a racket to even see a movie. I think I would rather support my local movie theaters at this point. Especially since they don’t even let you cancel without punishing you kicking me out for six months if your prices are so expensive… Maybe we need to take a few months off sometimes. It’s now $30 a month and I struggle to even see one movie.

Anyone notice how half the recliner seats don’t go back far enough… It’s so frustrating!

Certain locations the recliner seats are great… They let you go back far enough other locations. They are terrible or they have this enforced, huge head pillow that pushes your neck forward completely uncomfortable… Who is coming up with this stuff?

Loveeee it but how do you deal w/ the fantastical/historically inaccurate backbone

I love the show so far. Season two was lagging, but season one was amazing and season 3 very good! I have hopes for the next season and I want to be excited for them. I am going to start season four soon, however, knowing a lot about history… Not that I am a historian, but I know enough.
I know that these wealthy families rarely regarded their help as anything, but help… Often not even seeing them as very human. I do think there were the exceptions to the rule families that were a little more respectful or nice… However… They would not pay for cataract surgery for an old cook that was going blind, help their staff get jobs in other fields, put in good words for their school, and treat them like family. Most of the historical accounts are pretty awful/ I mean, I guess the show wouldn’t be what it is if it was more accurate. Maybe someday they will make it period piece that is a little more nuanced.
I feel like a lot of it makes these wealthy people seem like they were just so wonderful and nice.
Times were very hard back then… They were often ruthless and rigid. I’m curious how everyone gets over that do we just put ourselves in fantasy mode?
I mean, it is a wonderful world. It makes me want to just move there and live there even as staff.
If anyone knows of any families that were historically kind to their staff, I would love to hear about them and I don’t mean that facetiously like I really would love to read about them. Maybe there is a podcast episode etc. either way for now I am going to pretend that a family like this could have existed. They are so kind and truly treat their staff like family for the most part. A few of staff themselves are rarely deserving.
It’s not just Downton Abbey, but I feel like most movies these days. Everyone is so wealthy… A romantic comedy that is nothing about money. The person lives in a $4 million house in LA or a 10 grand a month apartment in New York, but it’s just a backdrop it’s not even recognized or labeled… Meanwhile, most of us even with PhD’s can barely afford a one bedroom apartment in a big city.

Is it worth it to watch season 4-6? I’ve heard they drag on.

Season 2 was a bit dragging but good. Loved season 1 and 3 but I heard the next few are really drug out and redundant. Thoughts? Any redeeming story lines is it worth it?

Anyone heal after severe adverse reinstatement reaction?

I have scoured high and low, and I just can’t find any real stories about people that have pretty severe reinstatement injuries that have healed. Nor the doctors are experts in the field, talk about what to do in this situation. Dr. Josef usually just sticks to people that could be potential clients for his $40,000 a year Clinic.. (don’t get me started). And based on some of the comments in his video, I guess people that are Kindled or had negative reinstatement reactions do not qualify for his program. I know he is all helping a lot of people so anyway I digress… Even on the website I just can’t really find a lot of success stories around healing after this sort of neurological injury. It is so hard to keep up. Hope I feel like it just keeps getting worse and worse, and I’m having so many physical body, visual, and brain symptoms. It’s so hard to keep going.

Looking for opinions and advice

will try to keep this as concise as possible. I will cross-post on Anhedonia and HPPD forums as well. I was on SSRIs for many years. I was OK on them. I don’t think they solved all of my problems and maybe weren’t even the drug I needed, but I had a very energetic, motivated, and pretty fulfilling life overall. I finished my clinical studies in psychology and was feeling really good in my life around 2022. I didn’t feel that the SSRIs were probably doing much, and I felt so good in my life that I thought I would try life without them. I was already on a pretty low dosage. I first cross-tapered over to Zoloft, then I did a very slow taper. I believe I did have some withdrawal symptoms, as I had increased anxiety, but overall I did not have any PSSD yet and I was hypersexual.
I did psilocybin therapy one time and then I developed morning terror and buzzing up and down my spine, but I still did not have PSSD and I did not have any visual symptoms or HPPD. After experimenting with microdosing, I started to develop deeper HPPD. I would have little episodes of DP/DR, but still no PSSD and no other brain or visual symptoms. Sadly, I didn’t know what was going on. I hadn’t even heard of HPPD and knew very little about PSSD and felt it was unrelated.
I tried to reinstate Prozac at a normal dose for five days and had an intense reaction. I had visuals and my DP/DR elevated. I also had akathisia. I then tried Zoloft for five days at a pretty low dose. Looking back, I knew very little about any of this. For the first few months after, I had brain burning, cortisol spikes, etc. Then about a month later I developed PSSD and extreme anhedonia, neuropathy, VSS, floaters, weird battery and fuzzy feelings. Before all of this I was embodied. I would dance, laugh, paint, ride horses, and do tons of yoga. Now……..all the above makes that impossible.
Lately I’ve been obsessing about reinstating at a microdose. I know that sounds risky, but I’ve been reading stories where this has helped. In my particular case, I’m worried about serotonin sensitivity. However, I also wonder if my brain was just so used to being on SSRIs for so many years that maybe it needs a very gentle nudge. I would really appreciate thoughtful advice.

Women and lack of redeeming qualities

Hi, curious what everyone thinks… I don’t mind the dark content although I do think most of the women are often humiliated and degraded. It does seem very much like male writing fantasy.
My biggest issue is that none of the women have any redeeming qualities. They are shallow and selfish to the extreme. They don’t really even connect with each other besides Rue and Jules. They are addicted to their own need for exploitation whether themselves or others. The male characters are mostly powerful unless they fall victim to the females lies, selfishness, or deceit thoughts?
