Banana Bread Proatmeal (Can I get away with that word?)

625 kcal, 28g protein, 72g carbs, 21g fat

Protein in the morning is essential for me and I’ve started using Bob’s Red Mill Protein Oats. I decided to try adding 2 farm fresh eggs (thanks to my neighbor!) and it’s so insanely good that I have to share.

I basically pile this all in a big bowl to prevent overboil, throw it into the microwave for 3 minutes, and the fullness doesn’t stop. It’s creamy banana bread in a bowl, though other fruits work great as well. The flax kicks up the good fats, and the fruit is the main sweetener. Sometimes I throw in a few dots of vanilla extract if I remember. I eat this a few times a week.

Thanks to a short online nutrition course, ChatGPT, and Cronometer, I’ve figured out how to use macros to my benefit. The carb and fat numbers no longer guilt me. My brain fog is gone, my energy is up, and I’m losing weight for the first time in a long time. I thought my body was broken but really I’ve been diet culture underfueling, exercising, and binging clean foods for years — and all the while thinking something was just wrong with me.

I’ve also been a long time lurker — thanks to everyone for so much inspo and I finally feel like I can share some of my own ❤️

Bucking Stage to Graining

Hi friends,

I have a pronghorn and a partial yearling moose hide (found her in barb wire) in the bucking process right now and they’ve been in for about four days.

I’m about to grain them but I’m wondering if I could rinse the alkali off before graining to protect my hands? I’ve done fur on with a coyote but these will be my first “buckskins”. I’m going to take them to a nearby creek to rinse post-graining.

Thanks all!

The Voice Log is a Game-changer for me

I’ve always hated tracking because it felt very tedious but I’ve realized it is just something I need to commit to. I’m a very “clean” eater but I have emotional binges on clean foods that are high in fat that continually disrupt my progress. Macros were always really confusing to me, and tracking felt like a behemoth of a responsibility. I took an online nutrition course that changed my understanding of macros through the MTNTOUGH program and a nutritionist named Kyle Kamp, and lightbulbs went off.

From there, I used ChatGPT to help figure out my macros, and decided to use Cronometer because of its affordability and it simply not being MyFitnessPal (hate hate double hate). I love the Garmin integration, but really the game changer is voice logging and I love it so much I could cry. It completely tore down my ADHD freeze response & the ease and accuracy is amazing. I use Chat to analyze my macros and help me figure out what I can and can’t eat later in the day. And I’ve realized that a lot of my exhaustion and brain fog was from long-term underfueling during the times I most used energy. I haven’t been binging at night because of this switch.

I’ve only been using this for a few days but I feel much more like myself. I’m excited to keep using it because I enjoy it, not because I feel forced to be on a weight loss program. Yes, I have weight to lose, but I don’t have a “goal” weight as much as I just want my brain, body, and spirit back in energetic and athletic alignment. I want to feel strong across all three parts of my life. That’s my goal. We’ll see how I do.

Thanks for building a great app — I’m grateful.

I have a few students who tend to be my skippers who are turning in GREAT work and in Google Classroom it appears to have a slightly grey background indicating that it’s been copied and pasted from somewhere else.

Quillbot says it’s 0% but I’m curious if anyone knows the nefarious routes of how students are beating the detectors. These are smart kids, I want to give them the benefit of the doubt, but my hackles are also up.

Any help would be appreciated!

Edit: PROCESS FEEDBACK IS LIFE! The folks I suspected did do their own work, but I caught a couple others that didn’t. I knew you all would come through — much love from a budding teachah in Montana ❤️
