How do you help kids sleep when your house is too close to a highway?
We recently moved into a house that we really love, but it’s right near a busy highway, and I’m starting to worry we made a mistake. The biggest issue is nighttime noise. My kids keep waking up from trucks, honking, and that constant low rumble from traffic. We’ve tried moving their beds away from the windows, keeping the windows shut, using white noise, and making bedtime more consistent, but they’re still not sleeping well. Now everyone in the house is tired and cranky, and I feel awful because this was supposed to be our “better home.”I’m not expecting total silence, but I’d love to make the noise less disruptive for them. Has anyone found safe sleep solutions for kids in a noisy house? Things like white noise, heavier curtains, window inserts, or even kid-friendly sleep earbuds? I’m being cautious because they’re young, so safety and comfort matter more than just blocking sound.Would love to hear what actually helped your family adjust.
