Is the Android app just broken right now?

I’m an Apple user and have no problems. Trying to set up a system for my dad and he uses Android. I got him a few Outdoor 4 cameras and a few mini 2k’s along with the newest doorbell(not 2k). I decided to get him the Sync XR module just because it’s newer than the sync module 2 that I use and 1 location I might put a camera would probably use the XR option.

Everything is brand new. WiFi is a new modem/router and has been flawless for the month he’s had it. Batteries for outdoor cameras are new and I even plugged the cameras into a usb cable just to make sure it wasn’t a power issue.

Here’s the problems: The cameras will simply NOT be found by the app when scanning the QR or manually doing the S#. The app just keeps telling me it can’t find them despite literally sitting on top of the XR module 🤣

I reset the modem, unplugged the XR, restarted his phone, reinstalled the app, logged in and out….. I’ve done every one of these multiple times and the BEST I got was actually being able to install a regular Indoor Mini I previously had on my system and gave to him when I upgraded it. And even getting that camera to be seen took like 7-8 tries.

Everything I’ve done and all the problems I am having all point to the app being the issue. While at his house trying to get everything going I accessed my cameras just fine from my iPhone. This tells me it’s got to be the Android app ???

Adding a sync mod Core to existing sync mod 2?

Some info for context: I have a sync module 2 with 10 devices synced to it. Works fine, NOT replacing anything. I do NOT subscribe to Blink, local storage is 100% all I need. I will NOT subscribe if that’s my only option for adding this Core module.

I purchased a few Blink bundle setups for my dad with the intent on adding a few more cameras from these bundles to my existing setup. He doesn’t need or want all of them and the prices were too good to pass up.

I know I need another sync module because I’m at 10 devices already. One of the bundles I bought has the Sync module Core. After just realizing Core does not do local storage……no, I didn’t read up on that until well after I bought all this stuff……..I figured I’d keep that Core unit and give my dad the additional Sync module 2 I also purchased.

All I can find on Amazon is them saying CORE doesn’t store local clips and that I need Sync Module XR to store them. Guess what’s not currently available? 😎

Will CORE use my Module 2 for storing my clips? I can’t find anything about it and I’m guessing Amazon is just pushing for subscriptions or selling me the more expensive XR module……that happens to not be available as I write this……

I don’t need extended range, just open communication between this CORE module and my existing Module 2.

X3, X4, X5 ???

Let me preface my question(s) by saying I only care about recording 360 video while riding my motorcycle. I’m only looking to have video proof IF/WHEN someone hits me.

Life long rider, had older action cams on helmets and handlebar mounts back in the day, but these were simple 720/1080 cameras and front facing. So I’m not new to this whole video thing but I’m drastically outdated with this tech.

After 2 VERY near misses yesterday while riding home from work I’m getting a damn camera now. X3, X4 and X5 are available on Amazon and I literally just started looking into this camera today. I didn’t even know the name. So before I do a deep dive into researching them I wanted to ask on Reddit first because I trust actual user experiences more than advertising and feature lists.

Only care about recording 360* video. I’m not vlogging, I’m not editing or sharing video with anyone, I m only recording for video proof in case shit hits the fan and either the cops, my insurance or the courts need proof.

•I will ride in the rain so IPX so-and-so is important. Or if there’s a great waterproof case I’d like to hear suggestions.

•I plan on using a stick mount on the back of my bike and probably up high and on a 60* angle so my whole bike and a decent amount of space around me is recorded.

•I don’t need all day battery life. 90% of my riding is 30min commute to work. Some 2-3hr rides on a day off here and there, and once in awhile a 7-8hr ride when visiting out of state family. So I don’t have to have a huge battery and I have numerous portable battery packs to recharge my cell as I ride, so that’s an option for the camera too.

•I will be riding at night occasionally but it’s almost always city areas. Rarely is it dark rural roads with no street lights so the lack of a “Nightvision” setting isn’t a deal breaker or anything.

Is the X3 the ideal choice since I have a very basic need and use case scenario for a 360 camera? The price differences between these 3 models isn’t much of a big deal to me but I’d rather not buy features I don’t care about and won’t ever use. But if one has superior waterproofing over the others, or maybe one has drastically better “low light” sensors/recording then that is something to consider.

Have you ever ‘rediscovered’ music from your youth that you kinda forgot about?

When I turned 40 ten years ago, I started to just randomly remember a song or part of a song that I hadn’t heard since my youth. For no reason and at any random time of the day something from a song just popped into my head. I could remember parts of the chorus line but not who the band is or the songs name. Thank the heavens for google search!

The biggest stand out of this random music memory thing was the song LOS VARGOS by the band Green Apple Quick Step. I know that I only ever heard it ONE TIME on the radio back in the 90’s but part of it got burned into my brain. Never knew their name or the name of the song. Then just randomly I remembered how the chorus sounded but I didn’t know any of the words except “I think that I could use it”. I could hear the guitar and the drums and the bass in my head, I knew the beat and the tempo but I couldn’t think of anything else expect the chorus line ended with a woman singing “I think that I could use it”………

When this forgotten music memory thing happens I’ll spend a day or two trying to find out what song it is and in that process I’ll find other songs from back in the day that I’ve forgotten about. This stuff is decades old but after all this time it’s almost like the first time I heard it. We had SOOOO MUCH music by so many bands in our youth, a lot of it has fallen into obscurity.
