Night weaning

My son is 19 months old and I decided it was time to night wean as I was barely sleeping. I just wanna know if anybody has done it where they still nursed to sleep and then nurse in the mornings, or is that confusing? So far what I’ve done is a nurse him for bedtime, then wakings past 4:30 AM to keep him asleep. He’s been waking up once or twice before then and it’s been a bit of a fight! I’m also wondering if I put him to bed and he wakes up before I go to bed if nursing him back to sleep could work.

I guess to sum it up I could ask anybody else just decided they will not nurse between certain hours overnight?

Both my son and I are traumatized

Today we were having dinner on the deck when I put my steak knife a little too close to my son and he grabbed it. I immediately went to grab it as he was holding it towards his face but he yanked it right through my hand and sliced 3 of my fingers. Blood sprayed all over his face and head and was going all over the food on the deck. I used my other hand to properly take the knife from him and he looked so scared.

I started telling him that I love him and that it’s not his fault and that I was so sorry for putting him in that position. He’s only 19 months and he knows knives are dangerous but he’s been interested in cutting food so I think he wanted to cut his dinner.

Was at the hospital for 5 hours, got 5 stitches across my middle finger. Learned a valuable lesson of where not to put knives and to always grab him by the arm if he’s holding something dangerous. Hopefully the next lesson I learn doesn’t end in stitches again. Mom guilt will now consume me for the next 14 days as my stitches put my finger back together.

My toddler kicked a stranger baby in the face

Had my first humiliating public encounter as a mom today when my 19 month old son walked up to a crawling baby in the indoor playground and kicked it square in the face. I immediately picked him up and told him we were leaving because he wasn’t being gentle, tried to apologize to the other Mom but she was not having any of it. I then watched her tell her mom group as they glared at us while we put our shoes on.

I wanted to crawl into a very deep dark hole.

Is this normal at this age? Is there a better way to handle these situations? Do I get a face transplant and change my identity so they don’t recognize me. sigh.

Dad doing bedtime

My son is 17 months and nurses to sleep and cosleeps every night. I’m planning on starting to night wean next month, and I also want my husband to be able to get him to sleep.

Should I fully night wean before I get my husband to try doing bedtime or can I do them at the same time? Did you have success with your partner starting to do bedtime at 18 months?
