Disability

I am prior service with the Army National Guard and separated honorably recently. I have one rotation overseas and did nothing to file disability to get benefits. I plan to re-enlist under a different MOS and immediately start sending paperwork in to do it right this time to get benefits this contract. Also plan to go back overseas to help with that claim and make it easier for proof of injuries.

However, in the guard, since we do not have a sick call, who do I go to after drill to get it in writing that I got hurt during my weekend or AT drills? Do I go to a civilian urgent care or talk to a medic and my line leader first?

Additionally, does this need to be a severe injury, or are aches and pains able to be reported as well? As in, hurting my back after unloading ruck sacks off of an LMTV per se, or do I need to actually get seriously injured for it to be approved.

Thank you!

Moving to the area

Hello all, I am from West Virginia and will be moving to the area to work at fort myer. My salary will be 63k, around 4k monthly take home. I am a country boy, and would prefer a tops 40-45 minutes drive to the base. My top pay would be around 115-120k in my career.

Any areas yall can recommend for this scenario? I would be very willing to move into the city and have a roommate if need be. I've looked at buying land and putting a Clayton home on it too.

I currently own my house in West Virginia, and have thought about staying, but also feel off about giving up a federal position to be comfortable where I am now.

ROTC stuck between job selection

Hello guys, I am going to be going into ROTC as a prior enlisted army dude and right now I am stuck between going to college to be a nurse or to pick a different degree in order to be a security forces officer in the Air Force.

I am having a hard time deciding which one to do, because I am very intrigued by the job security and upward mobility of nursing; both the civilian track and on the Air Force side, but I am also very interested in a law-enforcement type role because I have worked as a first responder and security for about the past decade since being out of the National Guard.

What tips or advice do you guys have for me about the reality of being an officer with nursing and other branches in the Air Force as an officer that I could reference to help me with my decision?

Hey guys, I am getting ready to start a career in LE on an army installation, for reference I am 27 years old. Recently my eye doctor recommended me for lasik which will take place in a few months. My concern is that a part of your flap in the cornea is cut and then replaced, however; getting hit in the face or any sort of sudden extreme pressure (air bag deployment, fist, etc) can cause this to become deformed and potentially worsen your vision permanently. I would absolutely wear glasses forever if it meant I was able to have a career in law enforcement.

Is this something I should be concerned about, or do yall think it is okay to go through with surgery or maybe opt for PRK instead? I would be willing to endure some discomfort if it meant a safer recovery.
