Thinking of getting into kayak fishing-advice needed

Hello everyone!

I've been spearfishing for over 10 years, and just recently started rod fishing, mostly trout on fly and spinning gear, but also have a shore jigging spinning rod and a Penn senator combo that was given to me for free from a friend because the reel needed fixing.

Im thinking kf getting a kayak, because I don't have deep enough spots close enough to casting distance to effectively practice shore jigging.

I've found a used paddle kayak in excellent condition, with solid outriggers, rod stands etc and im thinking of biting the bullet.

What are your advice from someone that is starting now? In terms of equipment, technique, water conditions etc

I am also fishing in the mediterranean if that is of any importance, and the target species are mahi, bonito, dentex, amberjacks, little tunnys and yellow fins, maybe rockfish and grouper

Trying different techniques with shore jigging setup?

Hello everyone! I have a shore jigging setup (shimano salty advance 10ft medium heavy or heavy action i don't remember, paired with a saragosa 6000hg)

I use it for shore jigging with limited success as im still learning, but the problem is i don't have much time, and all the spots with depth suitable for shore jigging are a 1 to 2 hour drive form where I live, so I want to know if i can try other techniques with this setup.

Like using some shrimp or squid on a Carolina rig, fish finder rig, or a flopper bottom rig etc in shallower waters

How to fish alpine lakes?

Disclaimer: I made the exact same post at r/flyfishing, but it said the community does not allow for actual cross-posting here, so i made this post for r/troutfishing, since ive gotten great advice from here as well.

Hi everyone! Two days ago I visited an alpine lake to do some fly fishing.

The lake is full of wild browns, they were very active i would see them every 5 minutes jumping out of the water, or rising and eating just below the film.

I used a dry sedge (top left) with no luck, then tied a double rig, with the orange stimulator (bottom right) and a chironome nymph, around 35-40cm bellow the stimulator

After the cast i see the biggest brown ive ever seen rising up, checking out the dry fly, touching it and then refusing it and leaving

An another fisherman i encountered later told me he was using a size 16 black ant, and it looked a lot like my size 16 black parachute fly

What are your tactics/fly selection for alpine lakes: What other advice do vou have to give me?

PS I fished the stream that starts from the lake as I was hiking up to the fishing spot, the trout there were happy enough to bite into size 0 spinners, but on the lake they would onlv accept flies.

Hello everyone, I am looking to buy vacation property in Norway, and have found some nice properties in Finse and Voringfoss. Are these good places to fish, mainly for trout, grayling, arctic char and or salmon?

Also for those of you that hunt, what is your opinion for these areas?

Thank you!

How does one even fish with double fly rigs?

What it says in the title. I've been trying to fly fish for two years now, finally yesterday managed to get a trout to eat my elk hair caddis during a hatch. Didn't manage to set the hook in time because I was dumbstruck, but it was the most magnificent thing ive ever witnessed.

Then in my infinite hubris I tried to rig a hopper dropper rig with one elk hair caddis and a caddis nymph underneath. First cast, the worst birds nest ive ever seen and I had to sacrifice my entire (and last) leader, which led to my fly fishing excursion to end. Luckily I had my spinning rod w me, but they were just following or bumping the spinners but no bites.

How do I cast without tangles?

Any help would he appreciated! Thanks a lot!

How to fish really fast rivers with lures?

Hello everyone! Thanks to this sub and your advice on my previous posts ive set up my first ul spinning rod and ive managed in two outings to catch over 10 trout (9 native browns and one stocked rainbow).

Today I visited a new river which has great brown trout population, but the flow was so fast and the river was quite swollen as the dam halfway to the top of the mountain was completely open.

My issue is that I would launch a spinner upstream (mepps size 0 or 1) and it would pass right by me without having time to start reeling it in, so zero spinner action. I tried with 5.7g spoons but to no avail.

Is it possible to fish such a river with spinners, or is it possible even to try to fish it with nymphs on my fly rod?

Should I wait until July for the flow to reduce?

I've uploaded photos of the river

Thanks everyone!

Im in the market to buy my first waders. The prices are too high and I cant invest that kind of money right now.

Does anyone know of a good pair of waders preferably max 120 eur?

Frog Toggs hellbenders cost north of 200 in europe, so unfortunately they're not an option for me.

Also has anyone ever tried waders from alibaba/aliexpress?
