Nanit vs Owlet -- can someone help me stop going in circles on this?

I keep opening YouTube comparison videos and closing them without learning anything actually useful lately.

I'm currently leaning toward the Nanit because I love the idea of the breathing wear and the sleep tracking, but then I'll read one comment somewhere saying the Owlet sock gives so much more peace of mind and I'm back at square one of indecisiveness.

A few of the things I keep going back and forth on:

  • Nanit's subscription feels annoying long-term but the camera quality looks incredible
  • Owlet's sock concept makes sense to me but I've seen people mention connectivity issues
  • We have a small apartment so I'm wondering if the "fancy" features are even worth it for us

I'm a FTM due in August and honestly the amount of research I've done on this feels unhinged at this point. My partner just keeps saying "pick one" which, sir, is NOT helpful.

For those who already went through this - which did you pick and do you even think about it anymore or did it just become part of the routine?

I recently moved into my first apartment by myself and overall I love it, but one thing has started bothering me.

A couple of my friends and my older brother have gotten very comfortable with randomly stopping by. At first it was kind of nice because everyone was excited for me, but now it’s becoming a regular thing where I’ll get texts like “outside lol” with zero warning.

The problem is I really value having quiet time to recharge after work. Sometimes my apartment is messy, sometimes I’m already in pajamas at 6pm, and sometimes I just genuinely don’t want company. But whenever I don’t answer the door or say I’m too tired, they joke that I’m “acting like an old man” or being antisocial.

Last night my brother stopped by with takeout while I was in the middle of deep cleaning and got annoyed that I didn’t invite him in. I thanked him for the food but told him I’d really rather people ask before coming over. He said I was making things “too formal” between family and friends.

Now I’m wondering if I’m overreacting because they are coming from a good place, but at the same time I feel weirdly stressed, never knowing when someone might show up.

AIO?
