Finally got the original Tempest 2000 soundtrack CD!

I absolutely loved the music in Tempest 2000 on the Atari Jaguar, and I ended up getting really attached to the soundtrack. I liked it so much that I decided to pick up a used copy of the original soundtrack CD.

I've had it for almost a week now, and I'm really happy to have it in my little collection. Definitely something I wanted to own physically! 🐆

Does anyone know how the unused “Predator Test Theme” was extracted from Alien vs. Predator (Atari Jaguar)?

Hi! I'm currently trying to preserve the unused “Predator Test Theme” from Alien vs. Predator on the Atari Jaguar in the best possible quality.

I previously restored the Rayman Atari Jaguar soundtrack, carefully recording the music from the game and editing the captures in Audacity. Now I'm working on something a little more complicated: an unused track from AvP that apparently can't normally be heard in the game.

The Predator Test Theme exists in older soundtrack rips as MP3/OGG, but I would like to reproduce it directly through the game and make a lossless WAV/FLAC capture, rather than simply converting the existing lossy files.

According to VGMPF, GatoVerde95 extracted the soundtrack using BigPEmu, Cheat Engine and HxD, with the ROM in what is described as a “sound test mode.”

I've been reverse-engineering the retail ROM using BigPEmu Developer Mode to figure out how this was done.

So far, I've identified the game's original FullSynth music loader at:

0x99B2

And these music headers/scores:

0x20918 → 0xAF46E4 — Title Theme

0x2046C → 0xAF5584 — Character Select

0x20610 → 0xAF12DC — You Win

I've successfully redirected the game's original music loader and reproduced these tracks, including “You Win.” I've also managed to capture BigPEmu's audio output directly to lossless PCM WAV.

What I haven't been able to find is where the Predator Test Theme is stored or how it was originally triggered.

I know about the documented AvP debug mode, but as far as I can tell, it doesn't contain a sound test. This makes me wonder whether the “sound test mode” mentioned for the original rip was actually created by modifying the ROM with HxD/Cheat Engine, rather than being a hidden mode accessible normally.

I'm looking for any information about:

how the Predator Test Theme was originally extracted;

the AvP sound/music test tools

ROM offsets or RAM addresses related to unused music;

an old modified sound-test ROM or patch

unused FullSynth data

AvP music source code

or anything about the method GatoVerde95 used for the original soundtrack rip.

I also have a copy of Extremist Pack #4 and I'm currently searching through its old Atari Jaguar development files, FullSynth/music tools and source code for anything that could help.

I've also contacted GatoVerde95 directly to ask if he remembers how he created the sound test, but I thought I'd ask here as well in case anyone in the Jaguar community knows something about it.

Ultimately, my goal is to make the game actually reproduce the unused Predator Test Theme through its original audio engine and preserve the result as a clean lossless WAV/FLAC recording.

If anyone has any information, old development files, source code, patches, offsets, or even just remembers how this was done, I'd really appreciate the help!

Atari Jaguar Cube NextBot is out now! A fully 3D NextBot inspired by the Jaguar startup

It's finally here!

After a lot of work, my Atari Jaguar Cube NextBot is now available on the Steam Workshop.

Unlike the usual PNG NextBots, this one is a fully 3D animated NextBot inspired by the iconic Atari Jaguar startup.

Features:

• Fully 3D rotating cube

• Original Jaguar startup sequence

• Dynamic lighting and shadows

• Breaks doors while chasing you

• Hunts players and NPCs

• Custom Jaguar-themed death screen

• Custom kill icon

It started as a fun idea after watching the Atari Jaguar startup for the hundredth time, and I thought it would make a great NextBot.

I'd love to hear what you think!

Jaguar Cube NextBot is almost ready!

It's been a while since my last update, but the Jaguar Cube NextBot is finally nearing completion!

The add-on is now feature-complete, and I've added several improvements since my previous post. At this point, the only things left are creating custom Steam Workshop thumbnails, making a few final polish tweaks, and then releasing it.

This has been my first Garry's Mod addon, and it's been an awesome learning experience with Blender and Lua. I'm really happy with how it has turned out.

Here are a few updated screenshots of the project in its current state. I hope you'll enjoy it once it's released!

Thanks again to everyone who has seen the project. The release shouldn't be much longer now!

I'm recreating the Atari Jaguar startup as a 3D NextBot for Garry's Mod

Hi everyone!

I've been working on a Garry's Mod NextBot inspired by the original Atari Jaguar startup animation. This is still a work in progress, but the introduction is already starting to come together.

https://i.redd.it/tg89ictjknfh1.gif

Current features:

  • Original Atari Jaguar startup audio.
  • Starts at 50% of its size.
  • Floats in place during the startup sequence.
  • Begins rotating when the Atari letters start falling.
  • Grows to full size when the "Have You Played Atari Today?" melody begins.

Planned features:

  • Chase the player while continuously rotating like the original startup.
  • Play the original Jaguar roar when it catches you.
  • Display the classic red Jaguar "no cartridge" screen when the player dies.
  • More polish, timing improvements, and animations.

This is actually my first time creating a 3D NextBot, and I'm also learning Blender and Lua while building it. It's been a fun challenge, and I'm learning a lot as I go.

My goal is to make it feel as if the original Atari Jaguar startup suddenly came to life and started hunting the player.

I'd love to hear any suggestions or feedback. Thanks for watching!

Iron Soldier 2 (Atari Jaguar CD) Soundtrack [HQ - Stereo]

Also, if anyone wants to listen to the complete Iron Soldier 2 soundtrack, "Orbinout Brawl" has an excellent YouTube playlist. It includes not only the regular soundtrack, but also the music from the game's FMV sequences, so every track is accounted for.

Iron Soldier (Atari Jaguar) Soundtrack [HQ - Stereo]

If anyone is interested in listening to the original Iron Soldier (Atari Jaguar) soundtrack, "Orbinout Brawl" has uploaded what is probably the highest-quality rip currently available. Every track was recorded directly from the game and allowed to loop more than twice, making it a great way to experience the soundtrack. Big thanks for preserving it!

I restored the complete Rayman Atari Jaguar soundtrack (32 tracks)

I recently completed a restoration project of the Rayman Atari Jaguar soundtrack.

Since no clean extraction of the music was available, I captured all 32 tracks individually through BigPEmu and cleaned the recordings in Audacity while trying to preserve the original Jaguar sound.

One of the biggest challenges was avoiding gameplay sound effects, as some could still be heard even when attempting to mute them. Because of this, many tracks had to be captured very carefully.

To make the videos feel closer to the original game, I also recreated transition effects inspired by Rayman Jaguar.

The complete soundtrack is now available, and I hope other Rayman and Atari Jaguar fans enjoy it as much as I enjoyed working on it.

For anyone interested, the restored soundtrack is available on YouTube:

And I have also archived it on KHInsider:

I spent weeks restoring the Rayman Jaguar OST

Over the past few weeks, I worked on restoring the Rayman Atari Jaguar soundtrack.

Since I couldn't find a clean extraction of the music, I captured each track individually using BigPEmu. One of the biggest challenges was that some sound effects could still be heard even when trying to mute them, so I had to carefully choose sections where the music could play with minimal interference.

After recording, I processed the audio in Audacity to create a cleaner listening experience while keeping the original Jaguar sound intact.

I also recreated some of the original Rayman Jaguar transition effects in the videos to make them feel closer to the game.

In total, the project consists of 32 restored tracks.

I'd love to hear what other Rayman and Jaguar fans think.
