My favourite comment on “Reading AITA Posts While Pink”

Seriously though, assuming that the AITA posts are real instead of AI slop, imagine posting about a serious grievance or moral dilemma you have only to be torn apart by a man sitting in a car wearing pink face paint. AITA for agreeing with Dan’s judgements most of the time?

Flairs now available!

User flairs inspired by all of Dan’s best characters are now available, and there is also the ability to edit them. If we missed any comment them below.

Post flairs have also been added, and although they are not mandatory for posts it is going to help keep the sub well organised and make it easier to find discussions of certain topics. Again, recommendations are welcome in the comments.

Enjoy!

A wedding cake I made for my dad, it isn’t perfect but it is beautiful and it uses all our favourite flavours

I did this by baking 1 set of cake layers a day and then decorating before assembling, then covering any cracks with a generous layer of buttercream. It’s extremely heavy and I’m kind of nervous about it falling but it is structurally sound, I’ve spent so many days stressing over this cake. It’s stabilised with a cake board between each layer and very sturdy plastic straws as dowels, placed to support the cake board without leaving any weak spots.

The top layer is a chai cake with pistachio filling, and crushed pistachio on top. The middle is a simple dulce de leche sponge with dulce de leche filling, and the bottom is an almond and anise cake with chocolate ganache. All of the buttercream is just a vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream, which tends to survive the heat fairly well without melting. I prefer to eat it out of the fridge but today is an outdoor wedding.

If we count each layer as an individual cake, I’ve completed 6 within ~8 days, this wedding cake as well as three birthday cakes. Before any negative nancies decide to say anything passive aggressive, I fully acknowledge that it’s not flawless as this is only the 7th cake I’ve made within the last 2 years, and my father asked me to do this for him. He’s marrying a wonderful man today and I wanted to contribute something that they would remember, and they both love the cake. It’s only a small wedding (50 guests is considered ‘small’ here), so this cake should be able to give everybody a slice and then have extra left over.

I shaved my leg hair because of the summer heat, here is what it looked like halfway done. Better before or after?

It was like sheering a sheep since it’s very coarse curly hair, and although I prefer having body hair we’re in the middle of a heatwave and I also like being able to see my tattoos clearly again. I also included a photo of the hair pile after I did both legs and arms, I weighed it and it was 22 grams of just hair

ETA: I didn’t fully shave it but used an electric razor without a guard, there’s still stubble but my camera quality sucks. I’d usually do it with a 1.5 or 3mm guard but that tends to leave a lot of stray hairs behind so I’ve got to go over it at least 3 times to get them all.

An elegant Swiss meringue buttercream cake for my dad’s birthday

All it needs now is some gold candles, I wanted to paint some of it with edible gold and add fondant pearls but I can’t get hold of it here.

I used this recipe because I had some egg yolks left over from making so much buttercream, and it came out very similar to a pão de ló which is a traditional Portuguese recipe. This one is firmer than a typical pão de ló so it can hold buttercream better and doesn’t dry out as fast. The filling is dulce de leche so I imagine it will taste quite sweet.

The birthday cakes are all done now and I’ve started baking sponges for the main wedding cake, starting with my favourite chai cake that I adapted from this recipe which produces the best texture I’ve seen in a cake. When that layer is done and frosted I’ll have to post it, it’s my favourite cake and very popular with my family.

A simple vanilla sponge for my grandma’s 75th

My grandma is visiting me from England for her 75th and I’m honoured to have been able to make her a cake since she raised me and was like a mother to me. She loves everything pink and girly so I made it frilly for her, and used a pink cake board of course. I used this recipe from Ash Baber since it’s easy to bake and my Nana isn’t too big on super flavourful food, so this simple vanilla and chocolate ganache cake is perfect.

The piping is a little messy in places because I made the rookie error of piping on the swirls before the text, and it’s a fairly small cake. Plus my handwriting is similar to doctor writing so by my standards it’s fairly well done haha

Happy birthday Nana!

I’m making 3 birthday cakes and a 3 tier wedding cake this week, wish me luck. This is the first of the birthday cakes: dulce de leche and brown sugar buttercream, with almond slivers and a regular brown sugar and vanilla sponge with more or less half a can of dulce de leche incorporated

A little messy looking but today was stressful, I managed to get 8 sponge layers baked and 4 of them are now in the freezer. I’m lucky enough to have a whole house to myself for the next 2 days, so I’m trying to get everything finished before the wedding next week. It is my dad’s wedding too and he’s marrying a man I adore so I’m hoping I can get everything perfect for them

I am addicted to food, finally managed to talk about it with my Dad, it has helped me so much

I was raised in a very abusive home after being essentially kidnapped from my father. The only source of comfort in my life was food, and the only happy memories involved eating. I ended up getting to 200lbs at only 5’5 (on a good day), but I believe I actually went over that number but I didn’t weigh myself at that point. I managed to lose nearly 70lbs through calorie deficit alone, and it was the best I ever felt.

I moved abroad to be with my father and the rest of my family, and I’ve never felt safer or happier. It’s still incredibly hard for me to trust people or accept love, since it never came to me as a child. When I made friends and heard about their healthy families, I found it extremely strange and it seemed alien, since I believed that all families were abusive. I quit my job around 2 months before moving, and so it’s been nearly 4 months of me not having much to do. I gained back 15lbs which may not seem like much but it scared me, since I felt like I was losing control.

I’m waiting on documents to be able to work here, but in the meantime the only thing I think about is food. Sugar and carbs specifically drive me crazy, and I spend at least half of my day thinking about it. I replaced my food problem with a cigarette problem around 2 years ago, which admittedly helped me lose weight since it stopped me from thinking about food. However, now I’m a pack a day smoker (which isn’t particularly taboo or unusual where I live but is still bad for you), and still think about food constantly.

I will eat and regret it immediately since the experience wasn’t worth the calories and the loss of discipline. After eating, I still crave sugar. I spend ages in the supermarket looking at the processed food and forcing myself not to buy it. My dad is getting married in 2 weeks and I am baking the cake (being near morbidly obese at least made me a good baker). We are of course trying multiple flavour combinations out and I am indulging in sugar more.

It’s probably very obvious but I will clarify it anyway, that in times of stress I turn to food and cigarettes. The craving and guilt just build up inside of me as well as the emotions I avoid by eating and smoking. I couldn’t hold it in much longer, and although I naturally don’t express much emotion I managed to have an honest conversation with my father and stepdad. It was the first time I’d been able to discuss anything deep or personal without being shut down or gaslit, and a huge weight has been lifted.

Hopefully I’ll be able to shed the 15lbs extra as well, and I now go to the gym at least 3-4 times a week and live in a walkable town. I care about aesthetics but more than anything I care about being able to take control of my cravings and maintain it. I don’t plan on quitting smoking but hopefully I won’t lean on it as much as I do and may cut it down.

Talking openly and being supported was so meaningful to me, and it has helped me begin to face my problem more than 3 years of therapy ever did. Around this time I’d usually be craving sugar and tormenting myself over it, but after the conversation I don’t find myself longing for chocolates. I’ve always empathised with the people on My 600lb Life since food addiction is miserable, you can live without drugs or alcohol but you can’t go the rest of your life without eating. I feel now as if I can conquer the beast. I’d love to hear other people’s stories too, thanks for reading

If you are small, buy children’s sizes. Better fit and better value

I’ve found that a lot of stores will do basically the same shirt or trousers in kids sizes. It’s usually much cheaper too, there’s a lot of overlap between xxs adult sizes and teen sizes, which is great since small adult sizes are barely ever available. I manage to buy shirts for kids age 11-12 as a 5’5 small framed man, for less money and a better fit. Usually I’d go looking for clothes and never find anything in my size, and if I did it wasn’t a flattering fit.

Gift shops in museums are a great example of this, they will have the exact same design for adults and children. I managed to get a £25 shirt for £15 since I got an 11-12 years and they didn’t have anything for adults below a medium.

I’m not very muscular so a lot of men’s clothes don’t fit great since vanity sizing has made everything huge, and I don’t want to have to alter everything I buy. As sad and infuriating as the childhood obesity crisis is, the one silver lining is that now children’s clothes fit non overweight adults.

Pistachio chai cake with white chocolate ganache

I used this recipe from Ash Baber but didn’t use caramel and didn’t add the milk afterwards due to high humidity here. I added more cinnamon directly into the cake batter and infused the milk with chai teabags to get the cardamom and ginger flavour.

The sponge was a perfect texture so I’d recommend this recipe as well as his others, plus his YouTube channel is super funny.

The buttercream was a regular buttercream made with unsalted butter, heavy cream, powdered sugar, and a pistachio spread from the brand Nocillas. The flavour wasn’t particularly pistachio so I crushed some pistachio nuts up and mixed them in too. I’d probably used a Swiss meringue buttercream next time since it nearly melted in the heat. Then in the middle is a white buttercream ganache.

Since we never got a real ending to The Big Red Saga, how would you have ended it?

One idea could be that Big Red never actually went away, and that he was conspiring with Dan’s ex to cause the Amber alert on him. Imagine if he ends up appearing in the new Intercogg arc

AffectionateSale is obviously here again

After being banned for spam and then posting videos of himself of a sexual nature as a minor, he was banned. Coincidentally, another account that I will not name (because we all know which one it is let’s be real), was created within a couple of days and started posting here. These are the reasons why I believe it is him:

- frequently posts in this sub but not in others

- claims to be ‘obsessed’ with Dan

- posts about antinatalism here, which AffectionateSale posted about in the antinatalism sub almost daily

- posts unrelated things here such as those irritating “do I look like Dan” posts, with heavily filtered photos

- posts short clips or screenshots without a title

- has posts of an unsettling and vaguely sexual nature, such as screenshots of our guy looking a bit like an O face or today’s clip of son cucumber supposedly giving head

- has claimed to be neurodivergent just like AffectionateSale, which doesn’t really mean much in the context of this sub but it’s another coincidence nonetheless.

We do not need to bear witness to this guy’s weird stalkery behaviour or obsession. If AffectionateSale reads this, which I’m sure he will since he visits this sub multiple times a day, please stop posting here. If you don’t want to seek some form of help for whatever is wrong with you then that is your decision, but stop turning this sub into a personal diary of your obsessiveness. It makes everyone uncomfortable as if we’ve just walked in on something we weren’t supposed to see.

Also, don’t forget r/danielhentschel2 exists and the moderation around AffectionateSale type posters is tighter and is run by active users of this sub.
