Dysfunction being the new normal?

After several years throughout agencies it feels like the day-to-day dysfunction has gotten worse. I’ve heard similar concerns from not only agencies I’ve been in but people across other agencies.
Has anyone else noticed a change in management, no accountability, HIGHLY concerning misconduct, or workplace culture?

Has it always been this way, or are things getting worse?

(25F) finding out my now ex-bf (32M) wasn’t truthful about a prior relationship

I was dating my now ex bf for 6 months at the time and it seemed everything was perfect! Until it wasn’t…a girl I knew nothing about started some drama with him and it completely blindsided me. When I confronted him he said he dated this girl but they were not exclusive and it didn’t really matter to disclose this info to me because he wasn’t serious and that he hasn’t talked to her in months so he was confused by her actions. He still had her number so I asked for it and jumped to his defense and reached out to her to figure out what her issue was and why she was being pathetic and starting drama but she never responded back and I never heard from her.

After he apologized we moved forward with our relationship and felt he was being honest. Until 3 months later I happen to bump into a mutual friend my bf and his ex gf share. Turns out my bf was in fact with this girl for almost a year and he cheated and dumped her when she found out about me off something I posted on social media and she took the break up hard so her reason for creating drama was because she was upset , hurt and he left her blindsided.

As I was listening to this mutual friend ,my bf timeline started to not add up from when we first started dating and his stories started to have holes when pursuing me. Turns out he was still sleeping with her and I’m assuming stringing her along all while courting me and taking me on dates. The crazy thing is the day they broke up we went on a date and I spent the night the rest of the weekend with him.

I confront him and he still stuck with his story but I dumped him because I felt it was beyond shitty to lie and still be sleeping with a ex while trying to be in a relationship with someone and hurting someone else along the way. He’s still trying to be together but I just feel like the trust is gone.

Should I feel stupid for jumping to his defensive and constantly trying to reach out to the ex thinking she was just some bitter ex gf ?

It’s beyond crappy that this girl was cheated on and hurt so I understand that pain of being cheated on as I’ve had it done to me. It’s just heartbreaking to think I found an amazing person but really an a-hole who was having his cake and eating it too.

Considering a Transfer: Which Texas State Agencies Have the Best Workplace Culture?

I’m at the point where I’m looking for opportunities with other state agencies because my current agency has become incredibly draining and toxic.

I won’t name the agency, but a quick Google search will bring up years of reported issues involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and poor workplace culture. Unfortunately, after experiencing some of it firsthand and watching others go through the same things with little to no meaningful action taken, I’ve realized my mental well-being has to come first.

For those of you who have transferred to another Texas state agency, where did you go? What agencies have a positive work culture, supportive leadership, and actually hold employees accountable regardless of position?

I’m not expecting a perfect workplace, but I’d love to know what agencies are the lesser evil.
