Like… it’s literally right in front of everyone, but every single time this topic comes up people suddenly switch to defending ILLIT or saying “we’re tired of this conversation.” Tired of what exactly? Tired of people pointing out something that’s this obvious? Because the similarities are not some tiny detail that people are exaggerating. They’re very noticeable, and acting like you can’t see it is just weird.

And the annoying part is how people keep trying to reduce everything to “it’s just a style.” Like no, we’re not talking about a simple concept or a similar outfit here. There have been things said from people inside the same circle too. The creative director herself said she didn’t know what to do with ILLIT before receiving NewJeans’ plans. That wasn’t something fans made up, that came from her.

Then you have a former employee saying that the creative director asked for NewJeans’ plans and materials herself. That’s not just “being inspired” or having the same taste. That’s taking something that already exists and building from it.

There was also a former BELIFT employee who talked about choreography and claimed that choreographies were rejected if they weren’t similar to NewJeans’ style. So even the dancing wasn’t just a coincidence according to that claim.

Even Tae from BTS said there are similarities between them too, so this isn’t just fans randomly making things up or being dramatic. The court also ruled that the alleged similarities between NewJeans and ILLIT cannot be dismissed, showing that these concerns were not completely baseless.

Also, BELIFT LAB and ILLIT losing the lawsuit against the YouTuber who talked about the similarities says a lot. If it was truly just a normal case of “two groups having similar vibes,” you would expect them to easily prove that. But that’s not what happened.

So please stop reducing this to “different tastes” or “same aesthetic.” There’s a pattern, there are statements from people involved, and there are things that happened.

If you were an artist, you’d understand why people around NewJeans are upset. When someone takes something you worked so hard to create and makes it feel like it belongs to them, that doesn’t feel like inspiration. It feels like someone took something that was yours.

Personally, I don’t think I could ever forgive ILLIT for this. NewJeans had such a unique identity and image, and now it feels like that identity is being taken away right in front of everyone.

The fact that people post NewJeans pictures and say “branding is so important because what group comes to your mind with this?” and the replies are saying ILLIT, that’s when I know the similarity is obvious. It’s not just people saying “they look similar” anymore. The fact that people see NewJeans’ branding and immediately think of ILLIT shows how much this image has been affected.
