Oral bacteria question

I’ve had chronic bad breath for years and am desperate for a solution. Every treatment says to use strong antibacterial mouthwashes to kill everything, then take oral probiotics to replace them with "good" bacteria.

Here is my confusion: From what I understand, oral probiotics don’t actually permanently colonize or change the oral microbiome the way live bacteria from fermented foods do.

If a harsh mouthwash wipes out our mouth's natural defenses, and the probiotics don't stick around, aren't we just creating a vicious cycle where the fastest-growing "bad" bacteria take over again?

Questions for the community:

• There are many pieces of advice in the bad breath subreddit to use baking soda plus castile soap together to clean the tongue and mouth. If all bacteria gets killed by doing this, long term how do we bring back the good bacteria?

• We know overnight fermented foods help the gut, but pass through the mouth too fast. Is there a way to actually use fermented foods to benefit the mouth?

• Has anyone successfully fixed their oral microbiome and chronic bad breath without using harsh antibacterial rinses?

• What actually works? What are the best, scientifically backed ways to encourage beneficial, live bacteria to thrive in the oral cavity long-term?

I'd love to hear your experiences or any research you've fo

Gall Bladder real knowledge

Sincerely requesting anyone who has real knowledge or experience with gallbladder issues and gallbladder removal to please help others in this situation.

In the Reddit bad breath community, there are so many people considering gallbladder removal surgery in the hope that it will cure their halitosis. For some, the suspected issue is bile reflux. For others, it’s biliary hyperkinesia or dyskinesia. Many of them don’t even have the typical gallbladder symptoms - no major pain, no attacks - only chronic bad breath that has affected their entire lives.

People are desperate and willing to undergo surgery based only on findings like a hyperkinetic gallbladder or dyskinesia because they have run out of answers. The hardest part is that there seems to be very little medical interest in fully investigating the connection between bile reflux, gallbladder dysfunction, and halitosis. Most patients end up researching on their own after trying countless treatments, tests, diets, dental work, probiotics, reflux medications, and more. Don’t suggest smaller meals or eat 4 hours before bed time because these people already tried everything out there.

If anyone has real knowledge, experience, research, or guidance on:

  • whether bile reflux can truly cause chronic halitosis
  • whether gallbladder removal helps or worsens it
  • how hyperkinesia/dyskinesia fits into this
  • what tests or treatments are actually useful

Please share. A lot of people are struggling silently and trying to avoid making irreversible decisions out of desperation.

Some Reddit users have shared success stories after gallbladder removal, so I’m trying to understand the full picture. This would really help others here learn about both good and bad experiences.

If you or anyone you know had the surgery:

  • Did it help and how much?
  • Did it make any difference for bad breath?
  • How are you doing long-term? Would you recommend the surgery to others?

I’m mainly trying to understand what life is like after gallbladder removal itself. Your experience could really help people who are deciding.
