GFZ SBL 2.0

GFZ SBL 2.0

Another OoD kits. Originally had the incorrect prime bars, but they took care of the issue pretty quick. A shockingly simple build, all of the “mechanics” are metal. Definitely a different quality feel to as well (as it should for the price). Not sure it shoots any better than the SLAB though.

An all time favorite

I remember being a kid (in the 80s) and watching a show or movie where they were looking for a 3 legged buffalo nickel. Have always been fascinated by the coin since. One of those coins in the collection that makes me smile.

Maybe my new favorite blaster

The Diamond Dogs kar98k. A very clever design, beautifully implemented. Super easy prime and still a heavy hitter. Bought the kit from out of darts, slight issue where the prime bars are about 2mm too long so I can’t lock in the front stock. Hopefully they’ll take care of that for me.

Traveling with test....how not to have an oily mess?

https://preview.redd.it/ztu2w6ahc87h1.jpg?width=1289&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=13626c27dfe3a498f3aa2ad697f50430686b4361

First time traveling with testosterone, didnt even think about this beforehand, but ended up with an oily mess. I 3d printed a little case for my stuff for traveling, tossed it in the bag. Got to my destination and had a leaky oily mess. Anyone have solutions for this before I ask the PCP to also prescribe me a couple 1mL "single use" vials for my work trips?

My new to me setup

I’ve been using a Gaggia Pro with a gaggiamate on it for a while and have made some pretty tasty espresso. Hard to explain, it was just boring and and I was craving the more tactile process. I have been eyeing a Bianca, but couldn’t justify the cost. A profitec 600 with flow control in amazing shape showed up used locally and i just couldn’t turn it down. So far one shot through it and it was distinctly average lol. Here’s to relearning the process!

Weight Lifting for old guys

Hey all, hoping a few of you can point me toward good resources, or ideally an app that does what I’m looking for.

For context, I’m 46M and have been lifting since my 20s. I got pretty lax for the last 5 years as work/kids/family became the priority. I still showed up to the gym, but it wasn’t the same. I got a little chubby, but I’ve been getting back into better shape and have rediscovered the gym.

The weird part is that mentally I still lift like I’m in my 20s, but my joints do not always seem to agree. Some of this is probably driven by random YouTube videos about “lifting after 40,” but some exercises just don’t feel as safe as they used to. For example, I don’t care about pushing huge numbers on leg press anymore. I lift at 4 a.m., so chasing PRs first thing in the morning also doesn’t feel like the safest thing.

I currently use the Gravl app for tracking, but some of the suggestions feel like it is still pushing me toward my 20 year old ego lifting This morning it had me doing a 250 lb landmine press, which just felt excessive for where I’m at.

So for the other older lifters here: what have you changed? Do you focus more on higher reps/lower weight? More machines? More warm-up work? Fewer days? Different progression rules? I’m currently lifting 4x/week and feel good with that, but I’m wondering if 3x/week would be smarter. Any resources you can point me to that would help build a new program would be great. Also open to working w/ a trainer, but havent found a good one locally w/ my weird hours.

Mostly I’m looking for “train hard, but don’t be an idiot” guidance. Any apps, programs, or general best practices you’d recommend for lifting after 40?

Reta is no joke on the heart.

A bit of context: I was on prescription Zepbound for about 5 months and lost about 40 lbs. I then took about a 2-month break, partly to let my body reset a bit and partly to see what maintenance felt like. Overall, maintenance went really well. I was able to manage eating at maintenance, which had been one of my bigger concerns.

Fast forward a couple months, and I decided it was time to cut the last ~20 lbs. Insurance dropped zep coverage for the new year, so I started using reta through a "reputable" U.S. reseller (just where my level of cost/comfort is)

The main thing I’m watching right now is resting heart rate. During maintenance, my baseline RHR was about 55 bpm. On zep , it averaged around 63 bpm. After 6 weeks on reta, it is up to about 62.7 bpm and still climbing. dosing below was a pretty consistent 5mg on zep. Reta, spent 4 weeks at 1mg (felt effects wearing off at day 5) and then jumped up to 2mg the last 2 weeks. Control/suppression has been great compared to 1mg.

Other than that, I feel great. I’m having way fewer side effects than I did on zep: no allodynia, no headaches, and no GI issues, all of which were problems for me before. So this week is kind of a go/no-go depending on what my heart rate does after Friday’s dose. Debated on maybe dropping back down to 1mg and see what happens, but heart rate was even rising then.

3D printed MegaXL blasters?

Anyone aware of any files, free or paid, for a megaxl blaster? Bonus points if there is a build kit I can purchase somewhere. The kiddo is interested in adding one of these blasters to his collection.

Any tips on shots? New to test

Low testosterone, PCP prescribed 100mg weekly. Gave me 31gauge 5/16 needles. It was damn near impossible to draw 50 units into the syringe and equally as hard to push it into my leg. Is this one of those that just get easier with experience?

preinfusion time part of full brew time?

Hey all, pretty new to coffee in general, just decided ditch the energy drinks and move to coffee going forward. Grabbed a Gaggia Classic Pro and tossed a gaggiamate on it for a bit more control. A question that I cant really find a firm answer for and Claude/GPT seem to be at odds a bit. Does the preinfusion/soak time count towards the full 27-30s (roughly) brew time, or does it start after the soak? Thanks in advance!
