Best “non-traditional” or most interesting use for remaining GI Bill?

I have about 20 months left on my GI bill. I already have my bachelors and masters degree, and I don’t want the GI bill to go to waste, so I’m looking to use it for something different than education for employment purposes.

I’ve seen beekeeping and gunsmithing which are really cool. I’m definitely considering the gunsmithing program that I’ve seen, but what else could I use these last 20 months for?

I’m open to pretty much anything, including online courses. I’ve obtained the education I actually wanted, thankfully, so now I figure I’d just have some fun with the remaining time on my GI bill.

Episode where Jimmie talks about going to his friend’s ex-girlfriend’s house to retrieve his Click (Adam Sandler movie) dvd?

This is a long shot but here it goes. I can’t remember exactly what the anecdotal story is here with Jimmie, but he speaks about his friend asking him to go over to his old house or ex-girlfriend’s house to get his Click dvd, and Jimmie is laughing super hard about it. James says “your Click dvd? Really?”

I’ve been trying to find it forever and I haven’t had any luck yet.

Iraq War

I’m a veteran but I was born too late to experience all of the build up and invasion of Iraq, the war itself, and the outcome. I just remember being a young kid and the Iraq war was almost something of cultural importance.

I’m not sure how else to explain it, it seemed like a general part of life that I would see mentioned in shows like South Park and family guy, video games I’d see my older cousin play on Xbox, and clips of it on the news when my parents would watch it.

As something that was so integrated into daily life, and being a veteran who never experienced it, I was wondering if there’s any nonfiction book out there that can throw me right into the mindset of someone who was about 18 during the 9/11 attacks, and therefore was old enough to really see and experience the affects of it.

If this doesn’t fit in here for the sub please let me know I’ll post it elsewhere

Thanks

Late on VA state tax payment

I owe $215 in Virginia state taxes. I did my taxes through TurboTax and in the tax return it stated I would pay the $215 on May 1st, however, I closed my checking account on April 25th. I thought I put the account and routing numbers of a different checking account in which the $215 would be withdrawn from. So essentially, VA attempted to withdraw the $215 from my closed checking account and I still owe the money.

Any insight on if I will have to pay any penalties or anything because of this? I have a letter from the VA tax department coming in the mail today, but I just wanted to be able to have some knowledge of what to expect before I open the letter.

I am a police officer currently with 12 years in and my body just cannot do it anymore. I had a pretty embarrassing moment the other night when my body pretty much gave up on me. It’s embarrassing, mostly internal embarrassment because my peers totally supported me and it was somewhat understandable, but at the same time, it’s dangerous that my body wasn’t able to keep up with the pace. I cannot imagine myself in a life or death situation with this damaged body and coming out of it alive, which in this line of work is going to get someone hurt or killed. Due to this, I submitted resignation paperwork and I’m looking to attend law school using the VR&E.

Does this seem doable in my situation? As far as I’m aware, it does look like I’d qualify for VR&E, but before I even begin to apply for it, I was hoping to get some advice and wisdom here. I am rated at 80%.

I really appreciate it any insight

I owe about $2,300 to the VA because I was collecting compensation and attending drill for the reserves in 2025. I already knew that I would have to repay this, but I’m confused about the wording on the letter.

On the same piece of paper, it seems to say 2 different things. On one side, it says I will owe $67 every month for 36 months beginning September 2026. On the other side, it says if I cannot pay the full amount, I may “request a payment plan”.

Here’s what I’m confused about: I thought I’m already enrolled in a repayment plan. Isn’t that what the $67 every month is? So am I actually doing this 36 month repayment plan, or as of right now. am I expected to pay in full, and if I can’t, then I need to contact the VA to request a repayment plan?

How to travel (by plane) with pet cocker spaniel?

We are looking to fly to Florida in a couple of months, and we have a cocker spaniel who is about 30 lbs, and he’s a very long dog.

We were wondering if anyone has any advice or suggestions on how to travel with him? It seems some airlines will only allow him to fly with us if he can fit in a small carrier underneath our seat, usually with a weight limit of 20 lbs (he’s too heavy). Others seem to allow him to be placed in cargo, but the plane tickets are double if not triple the amount compared to the others that allow him underneath the seat.

Is there no way to meet in the middle somehow? Is there an airline that will allow him to fly cargo but not have the plane ticket be an outrageous price? It will be about 1.5 hours one way, and he is a naturally calm dog so he will be fine in cargo, if that’s how we need to fly.
