I’m happy to announce

That I’m out of my reading slump! For a long time, I’ve had a really hard time finishing anything I’ve started. I tried reading an ebook for the first time and it worked great!

I have been a big doom scroller lately and I thought using my phone for reading instead might help and it has so far!

I’m not finished with The Vegetarian yet but I really like it and can’t put it down. 💜

This is a joke, right?

I’m a new user and created a plan from scratch. But I need to “upgrade to PRO for FREE access” to track it?

Is being good more fun? Or is it just different?

Obviously strong players (however you define it) will beat a higher overall percentage of players than weak players will. But most online or tournament play will be against players near our own strength.

So is it more fun to be strong and know theory and be able to calculate deeply than it is to be weak and worry about not hanging pieces? Or is it about the same level of fun, just different?

Dojo Live Classes or 1 hour of 1-on-1 coaching?

I’m ready to get serious about improvement but have never done any formal training. I’m currently ~1400 Lichess Rapid (700 USCF) and haven’t been playing seriously very long (only played two rated tournaments so far). Currently following the Dojo program and playing and reviewing more long games. I can dedicate 10-15 hours a week to chess.

I like the Dojo teachers and their live classes look valuable. But for about the same price ($70) I could hire a private coach for an hour a month.

Which is a better use of resources?

How difficult is quilting?

I love the idea of making giveaway quilts (my grandmother used to do it and they were beautiful) but I don’t even know how to sew. Is it very difficult? Would I need to be a strong sewist first?

ULPT Request: How do I get denied for a mortgage?

We need to back out of buying a house and would like to get our earnest money back. It’s a new build so there’s no inspection to lean on. I think the easiest way would be to get denied for a loan and use that as an excuse.

How do I do it? Just apply for a loan without submitting any proof of income?
