Not much but I feel great

I’ve been working out for two weeks in preparation for getting married. I don’t go crazy hard, 2.5-3 miles of fast walking on the treadmill but I can feel myself getting ready to run. I do aerobics after and I feel so good by the end of my workout - about an hour and a half all together. I’ve never been able to stick to exercising for more than two or three days, not sure if it’s the impending date that made me lock in or what but I’m proud of myself.

Avocado toast with sardines

Avocado toast with jalapeño sardines

Toasted white bread, avocado, cucumber from my MIL’s garden, sriracha mayo, King Oscar sardines in olive oil with jalapeños + a little fruit salad and some hot chocolate. I love avocado toast variations with sardines! 🐟

Late to the party but glad I came

This is my second read by Sayaka Murata and I’m so glad I picked it up after maybe two years of stewing on the bookshelf.

Murata continues to deliver the prose I have been longing for: direct, tidy, and bubbling with irony. I’ve never read an author so capable of understatement. Her use of restraint, of tempering the taboo and nearly-untouchable within the mundane, is transformative.

Being referred to as ‘’mama” and my baby as “little” before he’s even born

F(30) 20 weeks, becoming annoyed with my friend almost exclusively referring to me as “mamas” and my baby as the “little.” “Hey mamas! How are you feeling mamas? How’s littles doing mamas?” It makes my skin crawl. She has her own kids and calls them “littles” which is find kind of cringe but not going to yuck her yum. It just isn’t yum for me at all. It makes me feel like I’m the infant.

What does my bookshelf say about me?

Regarding the duplicates: some were in not so great condition so I needed a second, some were lent to me so I bought my own copies after reading, and others I just liked the different book covers between editions.

Waking up earlier and earlier every day + scary dreams

Having work trouble and it’s messing with my sleep. I used to wake up at 8 am, or much later depending on the point in my life. The past two months: 7:30, 6:47, and today 5:15, the earliest yet. Have a very supportive partner but last night we watched Obsession and h o l y s h i t, Nikki popped up in my dream. She was in a worse version of my childhood house, and she looked even worse and was everywhere I went. I called my stepdad over to help in the dream and he confronted her, but I woke up before it ended. Genuinely terrified to go back to sleep - not going to until the sun comes up. I can’t remember the last time I had a dream like that. My boyfriend was like “Don’t tell me about it!” Because he was scared of the movie too. Lol!

Waking up at the same time every morning

Has anyone experienced waking up at the same time every morning, hours before when you intend to wake up? I wake up between 6:30 and 7:00 every day no matter if I go to sleep at 10 PM or 12:30 AM. I feel depleted before noon and it’s very distracting when I’m trying to study for school. Naps aren’t much help and I wake up early in those too.

Questions about Programs/Pathways

I’m a West Michigan resident seriously considering becoming a paralegal. I’m considering Central Michigan University’s paralegal certificate program and am wondering if anyone has been through it or a similar certification pathway. In my research I’m also seeing two year associate programs which I’m considering, but I really need to jumpstart a career so the certificate program that last 12 months is more appealing, though it’s not ABA accredited. Has anyone gone this route, did it work out for you? Should I try to get through a two year program that is ABA accredited? Thanks!
