My whole life i’ve been a heavy breather, when i was a kid my mum would make me focus on breathing as little as possible just so i didnt annoy her - thats how loud i was.

I’ve known this coworker for 4 years and talked to him on countless occasions yet i still don’t know his name. We’re in different departments and it started when i mistook him for a manager of a different department when i first began- then it ended up being talks about his family. He even references his son and wife by first name like i’d know but i just went along with it and 3 years later i still don’t know his name 😭😭
How do i ask without making it awkward, usually we wear name tags but i never found one on his person.
Edit: his name ended up being ian, i tried to use the surname method but folded under zero pressure when he asked me if i didn’t know his name and just admitted it - thanks for everyone’s help!
