Will a 'dark spot' on a laptop screen still show on a peripheral monitor?

I need to replace a broken laptop. I have seen some reasonably priced ones.....but of course the caveat is that they will have some flaws. For example some second hand laptops for sale have no working batteries, non working Function keys keys etc.

One second hand laptop I saw said that there was a 'dark spot' on the upper left on the screen. I intend to use the laptop with a large peripheral LCD monitor attached. Will this dark spot still show up on the peripheral monitors screen, or will it only be on the screen of the laptop itself?

Can someone please give me a good way to make a Major 7th barre chord on guitar?

I have no trouble at all with Major and Minor barre chords on guitar. Major 7th barre chords are confusing me. I have looked online and I see about 4 or 5 different fingering positions all called "Major 7th barre chord" and they all sound different to me.

Why do people express sympathy with complete strangers who got cheated out of money?

For example musicians like Pete Best and Noel Redding of The Jimi Hendrix Experience. Neither were particularly skilled musicians . And I'm sure there are other examples in other fields like films, art and science etc. but I'm more familiar with the music sob stories.

It's all "Boo hoo hoo, they coulda have made TONS OF MONEY!!! Those poor guys!!! " Why do people have sympathy for a complete stranger just because they got short changed? Is it psychological projection? Do they imagine themselves as Pete Best or Noel Redding and wallow in self pity by proxy? I don't have much money and I don't get people trying to hold back tears.

What do you think of Leonard Bernstein's opinion of Beethoven?

I saw a video recently where Bernstein talks about Beethoven. Briefly his view is that Beethoven was not especially good at writing melodies or harmonies or orchestration etc.............but his greatness was that he could take all these elements that are unimpressive when considered alone and make something great from them. He said that no composer before or since could find the "right next note" in a way Beethoven could, almost like he had a telephone line to God, and God was telling him what note to write next.

Is this Bernstein being deliberately a bit "edgy" , verging into pretentiousness? Music critics of any genre can be notoriously pretentious, cynical and sharp tongued. Or is there truth to what he says?

Don't ask me, I just like to listen to music, I know virtually nothing about how it's created!

What kind/ style of composer is Carcassi?

I've been learning classical guitar for a few years. I used to play electric guitar , playing mostly rock and blues, but seemingly endless equipment trouble made me move on to the more reliable classical.

So I have some books, and the usual composers are there- Sor, Giuliani, Tarrega Carulli, and few earlier composers like De Visee and Sanz.

I often hear that Sor is like the Beethoven of guitar, and Tarrega is occasionally talked about as being a bit like the equivalent of Chopin. Roughly speaking I can sort of understand the comparisions.

I have a book on Carcassi with about 50 pieces. So far my impression is that he is melodic, although usually a bit lighter in mood than some of Sor's stuff. Is it possible to compare him to another (non guitar) composer in term of style?
