SCT 19 build.

My C1 slide just arrived, and while I just put it on for the picture, I'm really happy with the build so far. Still waiting on an OEM Glock extended magazine release, as the regular one needs a little encouragement; that should be here in a couple of days. I'll get a dot on it in after that, and probably swap the sights for some night sights just a touch shorter (like .315). I also kind of want to put an adjustable shoe on it, but I'll get used to the little bit of mush if I don't. At least the bar and connector are polished, so that's good.

Build so far:
SCT-19 frame (assembled)
PSA C1 slide
Strike 80 magwell
Gen 4 OEM Glock 15rd magazines

SCT 19 question.

Quick question for anyone who has done a build with a SCT 19 frame. I'm thinking of going with a Strike 80 magwell, but I'm a little concerned about magazine compatibility. If anyone has this combination, do you know if Gen 5 magazines work, or would I be better off sticking with older ones?

Is Geisler Defense the only 80% option for unserialized frames anymore?

Hi all. I used to be a welder and a jeweler (I still am a jeweler on the side), but I don't know if I'm up for a 76% P80 build for my first one. After digging through here and reading and googling for the last week, it looks like the Geisler Defense is the only unserialized 80% option left. Am I missing something? Is the v2 reliable? I saw issues with the first generation of them, and the slide gap is still there, but I'm unclear as to whether that is actually an issue or if it's just cosmetic.

Any advice?

80% frame kits.

With the midterms coming and the GQP renewing talking about how our side shouldn't have 2A rights, I'm considering doing a build centered using a frame that wouldn't be going through an FFL, as I live in a state where that is still legal. The one that immediately comes to mind is the Geisler 19X kit, but I'm open to others. Any recommendations?

Time to wave the white flag.

I love my 2014 Jetta. I really do. But it's time. The DPF is toast, and now it's throwing P2015 and going into limp mode if I give it anything more than light throttle. I have a cheap scanner and can get it out of limp mode, but it'll go back in the next time I need to drive it. The shop is telling me that in addition to doing the DPF, I need a new intake manifold. I'm physically disabled, and can't do a delete myself, and can't find anyone here to help do it, so I think it's time to give up.

Anyone else have separate home/defense magazines and range magazines?

I didn't intend to end up this way, but I found myself with, at least for my XD Mod.3, having separate home/defense magazines and range magazines. Here's what happened. It came with one 16rd magazine, and I bought two more. Then I got a good deal on a pair of 10rd magazines. I ended up loading up the two 10rd magazines with my defensive hollowpoints, and using the three 16rd ones for going to the range, because in my head, it saves a little reloading time at the range (and honestly, if I need more than even 10 rounds in a defensive situation, given my mobility disability in my legs, the reality is that I'm likely already dead).

Anyone else find themselves doing something similar?

Newest girl.

Here's Gardulla the Hutt. I don't really have any plans on breeding her, though I have bred hogs in the past. Just wanted a pretty female anaconda.

This isn't her regular enclosure, just the one I use while cleaning hers out.

How did we get here?

Honestly, I think this is my last time going. I remember coming out for the 50th in July of 2005. We did almost the same thing then as we are doing this time; 5 day park hoppers, 2 days at Universal Studios, and back then we did 1 day at Sea World and 3 free days, this time it's a day at the Aquarium of the Pacific and 4 free days. Both times were at the Homewood Maingate., then stopping in Las Vegas for a couple of nights on the way home (which I get the room comped through the Myvegas game).

Back then it was about $1000 per person (4 of us). This time it's about $4000 per person. I did the math, since I'm a teacher and was curious. $1000 in 2005, adjusted for inflation, is equal to $1700 today. So it's not an inflation issue; it's a greed issue. And I'm calling it. For that money I could fly to Japan and stay there for two weeks and go to Tokyo Disney, and still have money to spare. Which honestly sounds more tempting now anyway.

Anyone else feeling that way?

My hardware store builds.

Here's some of the hardware builds I've made over the years. They are all able to accept a dowel or carbon fiber rod for choreography, which I used to do many years ago. I really want to make an aluminum version of the one with the cutaway section in the middle, and install it.

Upgrade day!

Smith sent me a pair of new spacers after the first one for my Shield Plus split on the molding seam, but I didn't want to risk it splitting again when I needed it, so I began looking at alternatives. That let me to Hogue, which ultimately led me to their grip. So, $35 later, I have a couple of nice upgrades, and my 13rd magazine back in service.

Now I'm just waiting on a 10rd pinkie extension to get here. Smith is constantly out of the OEM one, so I went 3rd party for now. I'm still probably going to replace the factory iron sights, but they are good for now. I just want some night sights at some point.

Has anyone used the Hogue HandALL grip on a Shield Plus? If so, does it add a lot of thickness or interfere with IWB (or OWB, for that matter) holsters? Thinking of getting one for mine for comfort.
