Story of Two Different Jim’s
My good friend Jim’s mom had dementia and passed a few years ago. Before she died she developed this behavior where she talked about there being two different Jim’s - a “good Jim” and a “bad Jim”. My friend would visit her and she would tell him that the “bad Jim” had visited earlier that day and how she didn’t trust him, doesn’t like him, etc. This continued for a while. When she spoke with him he was always the “good” Jim. Just wondering if this is a common dementia related symptom that anyone else has experienced. It always struck me as very interesting, as my friend was a pretty troubled guy and maybe this was on some level her way of coming to grips with his issues and very obvious shortcomings.
