Solo trip to Atlanta City New Georgia

I decided to do my first solo trip this year. Since I am a music teacher at a public school, I have the summers off and have the ability to travel at any time. With my wedding coming up in August, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to have some alone time before the big day. My goal was to spend as little money as possible, but still have a nice relaxing time. When looking at flights on SkyScanner I saw a flight pop-up for Atlantic City for only $55 round trip. I immediately booked the tickets and started planning things to do while in Atlantic City. I had been to Atlantic City about 10 years prior and had a great time so I figured it would be fun to go back and spend time by the beach and the boardwalk. I was able to book my hotel and flights for the 3 day trip for just under $200. I used credit card points to cover the purchases. Everything was going so well. On my flight from Cleveland, I talked to the lady next to me for the entirety of the 2 and 1/2 hour flight. I told her about my plans on the boardwalk and how I was looking forward to the beach. When we landed, I opened up the Uber app to get a ride to my hotel. I checked before leaving and it was just under a 30-minute drive. When I put in my hotel's address I received an error message as well as options for a train. I knew something had to be wrong, so I went to Google maps. Simultaneously as I saw the almost 13 hour drive time pop up on my screen, I heard the pilot come on the intercom and say "Welcome to ATLANTA GEORGIA"..... My whole world froze, as a tingle ran down the length of my spine. ATL did not stand for Atlantic City but in fact Atlanta Georgia. I KNEW THIS! I HAVE BEEN TO ATL BEFORE. As a seasoned traveler who has visited all 50 states and been out of the country multiple times you would think I would understand the difference between the two. But no, this idiot got excited about cheap tickets and the memories of Atlantic City and booked before bothering to double check or actually read. How did I make it through all of my planning without realizing? I really couldn't tell you. My best answer is that I was traveling alone, and would have gone anywhere so I didn't plan as thoroughly as I would have if I was going with friends or my fiancee. While the trip ended up costing more than I had hoped, I enjoyed my stay in Atlanta, and overall still had a great trip. My friends proceed to remind me how stupid I am, and we all get a good laugh out of my misfortune. What the sweet lady next to me on the plane thought I was doing? Who knows? She probably thought I was crazy and went along with it. To her credit maybe I am.

TL;DR: I mistook the airport code ATL for Atlantic City NJ, instead of Atlanta GA. I didn't realize until my plane landed.

Atlantic City Boardwalk: Full 4th of July Walk Abandoned to Billion Dollar Casino

This was filmed on July 3rd from around 4-6pm. From the looks of it AC just got busier into July 4th and people were having a great time even in the heat.

Chez Frites Happy Hour

Chez Frites at The Ocean Casino

Happy Hour

Thursday through Monday

4-7 pm

New happy hour in town... $8 for a mini martini or $21 for a flight of 3. I was enthused with the fact that a true “Last Word” cocktail was on the HH menu & made with actual Green Chartreuse.

There are many positives here: 3 hour HH window, far removed from sounds & hustle of the casino (on the lobby level for when you need a break), discounts on both food and drinks, the $21 flight is a great deal based on cocktails available, and it’s a beautiful bar/space.

Suggestion: $10 for 2 oysters is not a deal. Make it 3, maybe 4, or more oysters and then we’re talking. Poor bartender kept having to tell everyone the oysters were only 2 count. I switched to deviled eggs after he gave me the warning.

Borgata or Ocean

Going to AC at the end of the month for a birthday weekend. Which hotel is better in terms of vibes, cleanliness, and value for money - Borgata or Ocean? Or Ceasars, Nobu? Thanks

Atlantic City trip report 6/24-6/28

Our group had so much fun in Atlantic City last summer that we decided to make it a yearly trip. We left Pittsburgh around 11am and got to Hard Rock Casino around 5:30pm. Check in was pretty smooth and our rooms were a huge upgrade over the rooms we had last year at the Tropicana. We grabbed food from the Mediterranean spot in Hard Rock and took a walk down the boardwalk and dipped in to Resorts, Bally’s and Caesar’s. All casinos were pretty busy considering it was a weeknight and there were a bunch of German World Cup fans getting wild.

The next day we made our way to the beach and spent the entire day there. Absolutely beautiful weather and really chill vibes on the beach.
That evening we split between Hard Rock and Ocean both Then went on the Ferris wheel at the steel pier. We kept it lowkey because we needed to checkout the next day.

On Friday we checked out of Hard Rock and drove over to Borgata to see if we could get early check in. The staff said our room was ready and they didn’t charge a check in fee or anything. We wanted to try the Beer Garden pool but it was closed for an event. The MGM tower pools were pretty cool. The Borgata was definitely a different vibe from Hard Rock. Place was packed and we spent Saturday trying to swim in the outdoor pools but it started raining in afternoon.

Saturday night we went to B Prime and was pretty blown away by the service and the food. I saw some reviews that made me have low expectations but the food was good and it was not crazy expensive at least compared to most steakhouses. After dinner we went to Harrahs and it reminded me of Tropicana. All in all it was a great trip. I enjoyed Hard Rock more than Borgata but that may be more because of the boardwalk and beach. Both resorts had great customer service and I don’t think you could go wrong staying at either one.

Can’t wait to come back to Atlantic City next summer.

My biggest win ever @ Trop

Hit my biggest jackpot ever last week at Tropicana. I put in $100 right before I went to bed and hit this almost right away.

Comp drinks at Tropicana and recommendations!

Staying at Tropicana tomorrow! How do comped drinks work when playing slots at Tropicana ? I know at hard rock you have to spend $10 but at golden nugget and borgata they just walk around and take your order.
Also what are my best food options on a lower budget?
Also taking any recommendations for anything to do in walking distance, I’ll be with my mom (60) and my gf and I are 30.

Did Superfrico close already?

I know The Hook is scheduled to close in AC in September but all the links to Superfrico appear to be dead. RIP if so. Seems weird to close it as summer starts.
