Cafe 2825
How do people usually dress for dinner there? We’ve never been but have reservation for Friday. Don’t want to be underdressed.

At Anchor Rock Club on New York Ave at the Boardwalk Sat 8/22
So many positive reviews and negatives. Some hotels I looked into are all negative or overly positive but this hotel total mixed bag..
I'm guessing it gets a lot of traffic and that is part of the reason the reviews are so mixed. That many people someone is going to have a bad time or a good time.
For easy beach access out of the North/South tower, things to do inside the hotel and places to eat it seems like a perfect fit but reading some people say check in can take hours or could wait 30minutes for an elevator then some saying the rooms are dirty.
I'm wondering if the new Seahause and just walking to tropicana is the way to go?
How strict is security on a 20 yr old w $100 at a 21+ event , whole group is 21+ except 1 person
I currently live in a hot climate, have been looking into "cheap beach cities," and have had AC recommended to me several times.
I don't gamble, but I do enjoy the glitz/glamor/entertainment/food of a casino town like Vegas/Reno/etc. (I'm well aware it's not at the same tier as those cities.)
I'd be concerned that it seems like a place you visit with an established partner rather than finding someone new.
I'm curious: how is the dating scene for a single guy in his 30s?
Will it require trips to Philadelphia for dates/socializing?
Am I being totally crazy here?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

so AC casinos have this setup where they can either pay a straight 2.5% tax on gaming revenue to the state, or reinvest 1.25% through this thing called the CRDA. most of them pick the reinvestment route, which is how you end up with casino money funding stuff that has absolutely nothing to do with casinos.
the board just approved almost $1.8M across 14 grants for the first half of 2026. some of the bigger ones:
the timing is interesting too because ownership of the nine AC casinos is about to shift pretty hard — Fertitta's deal to buy Caesars is still on track, and if it closes they'd control four of the nine casinos on the floor (Caesars, Harrah's, Tropicana, Golden Nugget, since they already own Golden Nugget). since CRDA funding is tied directly to gaming revenue, that's a lot of the funding base sitting under one company going forward.
kind of a weird system when you sit with it, the house always winning is also, technically, funding the boardwalk's ceramics program.
anyone know if other casino states have anything like this, or is this a NJ-specific setup?
On a Tuesday night (tonight) at 10pm would finding a $15 minimum 3:2 BJ table without an auto shuffler at oceans, borgata or hard rock be unrealistic? Between those three where would I have the best chance at that or am I living in a fantasy world?
Came here for a long weekend to celebrate my boyfriend and I’s August birthdays. And although we had a fun time mostly because we were together, I have to say.. we weren’t extremely impressed and are leaving slightly disappointed in AC as a whole.
For starters, the boardwalk. I haven’t been here in about 5 years or so and it seemed to have declined significantly since then. We were aware that outside of the strip, AC itself isn’t the “nicest” of all neighborhoods, however the homeless population living on the boardwalk was really sad to see. And the minimal times we ventured outside of the strip, the neighborhood seemed to be even more run down than before. Overall it was just a sad site.
We stayed at Tropicana in the Havana tower and enjoyed the Quarter area and all the clubs and food options but the service was just ehh. Not many helpful employees, ice machines broken on multiple floors, no response from front desk when calling down from the hotel stuff. Little stuff that maybe was just our bad luck but when added up felt extra disappointing. The minimum bets per chip value at the Roulette table felt like straight up theft. Unless you’re lucky enough and fall into a hot streak, don’t expect to be playing long.
We felt as though there was an up charge/additional charge for everything, way more excessive than the typical tourist location charges. between the casino and boardwalk itself, couldn’t count how many times we were surprised by little sprinkled on fees. $1.25 for a side of ranch when we ordered two meals with sides on the boardwalk… cmon. Even the ticket prices for the rides on steel pier, ridiculous.
Highlights for us were the Hook variety show in Caesars which is sadly ending in a couple of weeks. We enjoyed the show and the acts were fantastic. We also enjoyed the food overall, having enjoyed good dinners at Carmines and Casa Taco inside Tropicana. Tony Lukes, however. Terrible. Barely any steak meat on the cheesesteaks, and, as previously referenced, $1.25 for a small side of store bought ranch.
Idk. We went to Vegas back in March for the same amount of time, and even though I wouldn’t consider them on the same caliber for a 1:1 comparison, the difference in experience was profound. Probably our last time going to AC unless for a given reason, rather pay the extra couple hundred bucks and enjoy Vegas, where at least we felt got our moneys worth.
Would love to hear thoughts of anyone who may have shared a similar or even different experience.
Happened right near the pier on the boardwalk
Every time I try to TikTok Atlantic City for recommendations, I feel like I’m getting mostly promoted/sponsored content, so I figured Reddit would be much more helpful!
We’re planning on doing a mix of gambling, the pool, dinners, shows, and happy hours. We’d also be down for a club/nightlife night if there’s something worth checking out.
A few questions:
We’re staying at Ocean, but definitely don’t mind walking around the Boardwalk or going to another casino/resort if it’s worth it.
Basically, give us all your best first-time AC advice, tips, hidden gems, places to avoid, and things you wish you knew before going! We’re trying to have a fun girls’ trip without spending money unnecessarily.
Thanks!!
Leaving the hard rock Saturday night there was a guy right outside with a busted face, lots of blood. Anyone see what happened? It looked to be nitrous involved.
My little sister is turning 21 and we want a super fun hotel with a nice pool, casino, and is close to the boardwalk. I was looking at ocean, hard rock, and borgata but really can’t tell what would be the most fun. We don’t stay at nice hotels often so really hoping I pick the right one!
Anyone have recs? thanks so much :)
Found this in the stairwell of the Tropicana parking garage last year. Not sure if it’s still there? It’s stuck with me since then, very touching.
I’m a Philly boul who loves AC. I prefer AC to Wildwood and any other beach town. For me it’s like Philly with a beach (no disrespect). But what’s it like being an AC native? Like you grew up, went to school, graduated, and lived in AC all your life. Tell me what’s up. I love AC so what’s it low being from there?
