Important post about weight management!
TLDR- If you have a small bully, every pound over their ideal weight adds exponential stress to their joints!
Im making this post because my 2 yr. Old Pocket Bully Emmie gained 3.5 pounds. I didnt think that was a lot, but it comes out to 7 percent gain of her 50 pound recommended weight! Unfortunately, Emmie had a broken leg when we got her. Luckily , it healed with rest, swimming, and lots of good food. Emmie has arthritis in her back leg that was broken and also has mild hip dysplasia, which can be common if the hips sit a little too high. Im writing thid because weight management is the number one factor in good outcomes with dogs with this type of issue. Weve has Emmie for a year now, and for the first 8 months i qeighed her religiously. Her weight stayed the same, so i stopped weighing her for the past four months. Lo and behold, her weight creeped up SEVEN PERCENT. In dogs with no issues, weight gain is still not ideal, but not a huge deal. For dogs with joint issues, every pound over , especially in smaller Pocket Bullies, increases inflammation and makes recovery a lot harder. We will be cutting out most of her treats and giving her a little less food . She gets fed once a day (used to be twice, but she stopped eating one of the meals) and we will be cutting back a tiny bit on that big plate she gets, too. If you have any tips for Bullies with hip and joint issues. Please lemme know! Right now we gibe her green lipped mussel powder, collagen, and glucosamine with chondroitin.
Our (soon to be) new addition!
We adopted our Emmie a little.over a year ago (first pic on the left, dark) and we just officially.adopted Kimmie! Kimmie needs double leg surgery, so our foster has blessed us by agreeing to taking Kimmy through her entire recovery THEN letting her come home with us. We qill have her home around turkey day. The girls met for the first time today and they love each other! Lots of beautiful playing today and they have the SAME personality. The timing actually lines up that Kimmy might be Emmies Daughter. We will be doing an Embark test as soon as she arrives.
Banana Freak
A little late getting it outside, but i believe ill end up with a lil something to smoke!
Egghhhh!
I found this in a Creek in southeast pennsylvania! It was on a tiny bit of Rock that showed itself when the water receded from the drought we are having. It felt like a water balloon in texture and had that weird top on it like a water balloon but it was definitely an egg
Egggghhhh!
Found this in the middle of a creek, I think it's a duck Gray Goose egg. Felt like a water balloon but it definitely wasn't egg!
Will this ever grow?
NOID, I grabbed this about 3 years ago and it just doesn't grow! I forgot what kind it is, I have to hit up the guy I got it from. It's definitely San Pedro but I can't remember which one
Nice to see a dedicated community for pocket bullies ! Here is our Emmie, 50lb, 2 yrs old.
She loves swimming, chasing squirrels, and playing ball when she's at home. She knows what time it's time to go to the park and she gets pretty antsy if it's past that time! She is the most well-behaved and sociable dog I have ever seen, she loves everybody and always has to go over to people at the park and be all up in their business! She gets a nice smile from people Wherever She Goes except for the occasional people who are afraid of her LOL. She does not have a bad bone in her body, she is just an oversized lap dog. We have had her for a year and two months now, we got her in April of 25. She had a broken leg when we got her and luckily it healed on its own. She has some minor issues like hip dysplasia and grade two luxating patella, but that is pretty much par for the breed unfortunately. We rest her when she tells us to and we try to let her do as much swimming as she can in the creek. If you are thinking about adopting a bully, I would highly recommend it. Just try to get one with decent structure meaning minimal bowing of the front legs and have a full work up done on them when you get them home
Anyone else have a Catnip loving Bully?
We removed all the wings and feathers after this photo, Emmir LOVES the Nip! It is supposed to be calming for dogs.
SE Pennsylvania, US. I rescued this acer palmatum from the garbage a couple of years ago. It is growing huge, but just now I am noticing malformed and curling leaves on tips
As the title says, this is my second summer with this tree. It does not planted too deeply and the mulch is pulled away from the trunk. I have not trimmed this tree except for in the fall. All of my new growth is all of a sudden curling and withered looking. We have had some hot days, but I'm giving it water to try to help with that. I use water that I collected from my roof, and all of my other plants look really really good but for some reason this maple seems like it is struggling mightily! The rest of the tree just looks so great and I'm really sad that this is happening. If anybody can help me figure out what this might be it would be greatly appreciated. The only product that I have used is Captain Jack's dead bug powder on a nearby lilac bush. Besides that I do not use any pesticides or weed killer. I prefer to string trim any weeds to grow in between the cracks of the concrete. Any help would be appreciated, I'm attached to every single thing I grow and I try to give everything equal love, this is really hurting me that this tree is showing this weird stress. We have had some hot days here, 95 plus. And I have only supplementally watered this plant a couple of times, so if I were to guess I would say it can't be from overwatering. It's the second year of this tree so I would imagine even during hot times The Roots can reach down deep enough to find water, but this is my first Japanese maple so I really don't know.
Preserving full Tobacco Pouches, USA Phila, Penna.
USA, Phila PA. I pretty much know these arent too valuable, but they mean the world to me. My grandfather was a big chewer of Red Man and always had hats, tins and knives with Red Man Branding laying around. These are antique pouches of Redman tobacco. I am trying to figure out the best way to preserve these to where the paper does not fade or crumble. Right now they are in really nice condition and I would like to keep them that way. Does anyone have any kind of display box that will keep UV and air out of it? I would really like to display these on the wall if possible but would be fine with leaving them on the shelf. I was going to try a food saver bag and suck the air out of them but I am afraid it's going to make the paper crumble or crack. The paper is not that fragile, probably the same as a paper shopping bag, but I just don't want to mess with the Integrity of the bag or change the shape by sucking the air out.
I made this for my little Girl! Ill add somw real photos afrwr the poster.
Found in a southeast PA creek, 8 mi. From the Delaware River
Found in the creek, no information besides title and photos, thank you!
Please HELP!
Every testimony counts, we really need help! Thank you.
I was at the Philly Hearing. Heres the truth .
We are dealing with a situation where the person who wrote this city ordinance does not want to hear anything Pro Kratom or cannabis. Every time one of us spoke that was Pro kratom, she look like she had a constipation face on, started playing on her phone, or spoke with the security guard behind her. She has no regard for people with chronic pain or people who are consuming Kratom for addiction issues.
The part that hurt the worst was the amount of people who showed up to help in philly. There were two total consumers there, I was one of them. There was one more, but they got outed as a Kratom vendor during their testimony so they no longer count as a consumer on the record. This really hurt me, I've been fighting for this plant since 2015, going where I can, writing and talking to legislators going to DC etc. For a little while me and my wife were some of the biggest supporters of the advocacy efforts. For nobody to show up for me in our time of need really hurts.
None of the amendments in the city ordinance help us at all, one of the amendments holds off part of the bill to november, but not the part about Kratom and cannabis. They also changed a little bit of wording in the line item that mentions the FDA Food Drug and cosmetic act. That line does not help us at all either. So basically we are stuck in a situation where unless we get a bunch of consumers to come in person and give their testimony we are going to lose.
They want this ordinance passed by June 11th, because that's when they go on a recess. The author of this ordinance does not want to amend this bill because she says it will cost too much money to put any kind of regulations in place to save plain leaf. This bill will not affect online, but it will put a in place in the biggest city in Pennsylvania and make it very hard to enact State legislation such as the Kratom consumer protection act. This will also open the door for neighboring states to take action and neighboring cities. So please, show up for the next meeting if you are a Philadelphia consumer or surrounding area. We really need all the support we can get. The agenda for next week will not be announced until Tuesday because of the Memorial Day holiday, but from everything that I've gathered and speaking with legislators it looks like it is going to be on the agenda for a full committee meeting on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in building 400. I will be making a flyer as soon as I can get the agenda for thursday. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out, we need all the help we can get to try to stop this alarming b a n.
Cut or wait?
I am having trouble telling whether the trichomes are cloudy or clear? I am also noticing some white pist which are kind of conflicting with what I'm seeing on the trichome so I figured I would ask, this is only my second grow.
Thos is how you camcel on mobile!
It was super frustrating, because the instructions support gave didnt make sense. I figured it out after messing around for an hour. At no point did they mention swiping right or even entering into the "upgrade" area to be able to locate yhe manage subscriptions button. It is super sneaky.
1 log in to your base44 account
2 click on your round icon in the upper right hand corner.
3 click on upgrade (yes, counterintuitive AF)
4 heres the trick... swipe RIGHT to get to the BASIC box
5 click on manage subscription
6 click on manage payments
7 click Cancel
