Installing copper pipe quotes

Hi,

I am in process of moving the rad in my 1 st floor bedroom. The length of the room is 4 meter. The new rad is already hanged on the wall. I have removed all floor boards. So only thing the plumber needs to do is to install new copper pipe. I am getting following quotes in Westmidlands. Its combi boiler.

Registered Gas Boiler enginners: in circa of £300 - £500
Non registered Gas Boiler enginners: in circia of £150-£200

To me paying £300 for just installing copper pipe sounds high. Also is it advisable to go with Non gas registered enginner with this?

There is a dead gas pipe in the middle of the room (I can see its disconnected at source) but all needs to be done is instead of touching it , just need to create offset (to be safe side)

Any inputs is much appricated because my room renovation is on halt because of this.

Thanks

Pushfit (Hep2o) vs copper

Hi,

I am looking to move my first floor bedroom rads from one wall to another. Its about 4 meter to the opposite side of the wall. The pipe work would contains adding T for next door room rads.

I have done basic soldering work and looking at yorkshire fitting , it makes it easier. BUT the pipework would need offset bends to pass the old gas pipe (prob. not in use but I dont want to touch it). This means precise measurements in bending and creating offsets (I have created offsets as well but its not always come right first time). Makes me wonder , it still worth doing this via copper or should I use Pushfit and get it done with. (

My concern with pushfit as its first floor, any leaks would create more problems for plaster cieling at the room below.

Edit: What are the chances of Solder leaking if done by novice like me? (obeviously how long is a piece of string question but still if someone had good/bad expereince with DIY soldering)

Thanks

UK limited company CT600 - do you use an accountant or file yourself via FreeAgent?

Hi all,

I run a UK limited company contractor and use FreeAgent for bookkeeping. I am looking at filing my company year-end accounts and CT600, and I am trying to decide whether to use an accountant for a one-off filing/review or do it myself through FreeAgent.

For those of you with small limited companies / contractor companies:

  • Do you use an accountant just for a one-off CT600 + year-end accounts filing?
  • Roughly how much did it cost you?
  • Was it worth paying for, or could you have done it yourself?
  • Has anyone filed the CT600 themselves using FreeAgent? How straightforward was it?
  • Any issues with marginal relief, director salary/dividends, pension contributions, VAT, capital allowances, or director loan account?
  • Any recommendations for UK accountants who are good with IT contractor limited companies and FreeAgent?

Not looking for formal tax advice on Reddit; just trying to understand what others normally do, typical costs, and whether FreeAgent filing is manageable without an accountant.

Thanks

First floow bay window radiator hang

Hi,

We currently dont have radiator on bay window and I am trying to create a frame which can take the weight of the rad. (1200 x 500). I have created frame which is screwed to the bay joist as well as floor.

https://preview.redd.it/jcpjukg84g3h1.jpg?width=1607&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5d1661b5ee927b219404a036b3b036f0ad1d3bd2

They are screwed to the 4 verticle joists and to the floor.

Do you see any prob. (apart from taking the floor board off which I have to cut)? In perficular if I should have only scred to joist and not floor etc? Any problem when wood movement in different weather.

Thanks
