Why are people hiring so nitpicky about software?

Before this gets removed again, I’m trying to ask advice from other professional editors. I’ve been working as a freelance editor for 3 years, pay taxes as a freelance editor, and do work mostly for clients on YouTube. Mostly long form, some short form.

I work with FCP and motionVFX. I started out with Premiere, but trying to use motion graphics was a slog and I found FCP to be much more user friendly and easier to get from point A to B, it works for me and I get great results. Yet now when I look for work I’m already locked out of at least 50% of jobs because they exclusively want Premiere and AE editors. I get it, industry standards and so on, but I’m doing just fine with FCP and should be able to use what works for me. I don’t have the time to learn Premiere because I’m already supplementing my lack of editing income by taking up part time cleaning jobs, I can’t even land an internship that would help me learn and grow in this industry, and I can’t land many jobs because I’m using a software people apparently find inferior.

Tldr: Why do so many jobs require advanced knowledge of Adobe software when I can do my work with FCP just as well? And if I have to learn Premiere all over again, what advice can you give for working with motion graphics in Premiere?

Viewer Bug, colour shift between preview and actual frame

https://preview.redd.it/6je0yzjx6m7h1.png?width=1600&format=png&auto=webp&s=24bb45745c021d7d32515560f7f27c307573930b

I've noticed a strange issue for the last couple of months, I'll try to explain ...

When I click on a project in the event, I see a preview in the viewer (right) but when I load that project and go to the exact same frame, it's much darker (left). When I play the project, it's as seen on the left, not washed out as is seen on the right. Could this be a colour management issue?

Anyone recognise this - friend or foe?

Hi All,

This has popped up in the last couple of months, thought it was a confused cyclamen but now o have no idea. In an area where convolvulus thrives.

Anyone recognise it?

EOS R50 V False Colour - map to button?

Now that we have False Colour in the Canon R50V with the new firmware, has anyone discovered a way to map it to a button for a quick toggle on/off? Not seeing it in the assignable button options anywhere :/

Any 3rd party shot detectors for FCP?

I have a line cut job coming up which I need to tidy up/recut and I need to run a shot detection pass first. Normally I’d stick it through Resolve and bring it back into FCP, but I’m wondering if any of you can recommend a shot detection utility?

Thanks

frame.io v4 integrations: import FIOJSON file?

I "upgraded" to frame.io v4 recently, and didn't realise that you can no longer drag and drop comments via the extension. Pain in the hoop.

Does anyone know how to import the .fiojson file into FCP?
