Just upgraded from Ninja 400.. Thoughts / Observations
So I had my 24' Ninja 400 for about 2 years, recently sold it and upgraded to the Honda CBR600RR. Thought I'd share some side by sides and things I've noticed.
- Seat height is noticeably higher on the super sport. I have to tip toe now and moving in parking lots is more annoying.
- The turn radius on the supersport is considerably worse. With the handlebars fully to one side the Ninja turns much easier in parking lots.
- The gas mileage is vastly different lol. I used to get about 200+ KM on a 7$ fillup with the Ninja. The Honda gets like 150 KM and takes like 17$ to fillup.
- The riding position is so different. On the Ninja I felt comfortable in a relaxed upright position unless I really wanted to lean over aggressively. The super sport forces you into a leaned position. I guess the way the handlebars and footpegs are. It requires a totally different posture and my muscles are burning from this new unexpected usage.
- The vibrations aren't nearly as bad on the new bike. My hand doesn't go numb anymore from ripping it, but my back and thighs do.. lol.
- I thought the Ninja was pretty fast. The supersport is ridiculous. The force of the acceleration feels like I'm skydiving forward.
- The undertail exhaust produces a lot of heat on my legs haha. It's like a furnace it's insane. I also kind of miss the grumble of the LV exhaust on my Ninja that thing was amazing haha.
I'm glad I started on a Ninja 400. I feel like personally I would have been in huge trouble / probably died if I'd started on a supersport. I also feel like the 400 is a totally reasonable forever bike & very capable of doing everything you need it to.. I'm just an adrenaline junky and wanted an obscenely fast bike.
